Clicking on the "upgrade" link in MMB seems to only bring about the POUG offer and no possibility to upgrade based on fare difference. I guess the alternative would be to cancel and get an FTV (hopefully an eVoucher for a plain vanilla return ticket) and rebook but I wondered whether there was another way to do it online.
I found myself in the same situation with an IST fare. No you can't, is the short answer. You have to call up and hope you get through to someone intelligent enough to spot that an "offer" that's more than the original price is nonsense. It took me three calls to find a person who had the light bulb moment; they cancelled the original and issued FTVs and I rebooked, as you suggested. (And now the FTVs are showing invalid as used on that same booking and I can't persuade anyone otherwise, but that's another matter). Fees were waived.

Oddly, someone here was claiming that it's always been the case that POUG was more than the cheapest Club ticket; that's not correct, because previously the POUG would simply be suppressed until the available Club fare was high enough to make it true; something has been broken in the recent changes. Previously, as a default the website would simply quote the full fare difference - now it doesn't even do that, it wants the higher POUG amount instead.

Thanks for confirming. I surmised from the absence of answers (until yours) that this was probably the case and filled the voucher request form this pm. An eVoucher was issued within minutes and I rebooked directly in CE.

Agree with you on that. When I make a booking in EuroTraveller, I tend to make a note of the fare and the Club Europe fare, so that if I get a POUG offer, I can see how much I am saving. On my usual DUB-LHR, you sometimes don't save much, could be 20, but I'll take that.

Last one was a 90 upgrade LHR-DUB on a one way - but what it did was bring the price of the one way to a pound under/over the price of the sector had I booked it as part of a return. I find the methodology around it interesting - right now it's all over the place, whereas before it was far more consistent.

December 2021 I got economy to business MAD - LHR for 52 on Iberia but BA ticketed. Even at that price I probably wouldn't normally take it except it was the A350! This was offered at check-in and was less than the offer prior.

So I thought it well worth it (check a bag and have a drink and you're covered!) especially as I had time to kill that day and I spend pretty much all my flying time down the back. The lounge was extremely quiet and very pleasant, and the food on board was very nice.

Do these offers tend to keep dropping in the time before a flight if Club isn't well sold? Going to MEX soon booked in WTP, the app is currently offering the upgrade for 582 on the outbound, already reduced in the last few days from 640. From some dummy bookings Club doesn't look well sold at all so is a better off likely - even at check-in?

Can someone confirm - does a POUG on a redemption ticket result in TPs being earned or not? In this case I'm being offered WT -> WTP on MEX-LHR for 195, which sounds good and I'm debating, but if recent experiences are that I'd also earn 90 TPs it's a no-brainer!

According to the rules if you have a reward ticket and do a POUG you shouldnt earn any points. Sometimes you get an error in your favour but I wouldnt count on that happening.

LHR - BCN 175 each way Feb 2022
LHR - WAW 99 each way April 2022
In both cases current CE fares for the same flights are cheaper than upgrading.

POUG price higher than non-POUG price

So I have flights booked to BCN in Feb and I checked yesterday to find that the return leg could be upgraded at 85. This morning, POUG was offered on MMB and its 175 even though the fare difference is only 85 on a new dummy booking I ran.

Is there a way of upgrading that leg at 85 instead of 175 now that its being offered to me?

If you can buy a new fare at that lower price you can try taking an FTV and making a new booking using it.
