You can still ask for AUPs though, both in Dublin or at LHR as they will do those by sector still, I believe.

No, you never get POUG on a connecting itinerary, which includes a route like that out of Dublin. Sadly. I have on occasion booked DUB-LHR-DUB as one booking and then LHR-XXX-LHR on another. You'll get them then.

Because it's a fare difference move, in this scenario First is likely to be cheaper than CW and therefore the computer offers that rather than CW. Alternatively CW is full.

I’ve got a one way sector OSL-LHR which I upgraded using a POUG a few weeks ago coming up next week.
Due to QR’s irrops in SYD today, we’re no longer on a flight to Oslo and instead we fly into ARN and I had to re book a flight back to Monday.
I have no issue losing the underlying value of the OSL-LHR booking (I think it was worth about £20) but the POUG was a small chunk I’d rather get back if possible.
Is it possible to call up BA and ask nicely to reverse the purchase and get cash back, or not that simple? I’d really appreciate any insight.

So this is just a voluntary cancellation of a separate ticket. In which case you use the usual form for flight cancellations, you will then get an eVoucher for the value of the return and the POUG, though it may take a while for this to be calculated. It's possible they will initially give you an FTV while that is worked out.

Error message when trying to upgrade CW to First
I am offered an upgrade, in manage my booking, to First class on YVR LHR BA 84 June 12 for Canadian $499 - it is an Avios booking when I press continue I get this error message - I have tried many times over the last few days.
- No Fare Quote found, try other pricing option

News to me... that may be why it doesn't work, even though it's offering it? Interesting.

Avios bookings can get POUGs, nothing new there, and no TPs/Avios earned off them either. For this particular case, the system seems not to be able to auto-ticket the new reservation, and that may be due to (for example) this being a moved or previously altered service. There isn't much you can do about this, other than look for an AUP instead.

Not sure if I'd take it considering it earns nothing... though if it were a good deal, I'd probably be swayed.

Checked my account for a flight in early July from RUH-LHR and surprised to see they are already offering me a "limited time offer" upgrade from Y to W for £349 GBP. As it is holiday time (in Saudi around those dates) I see most of the flights are already nearly full down the back and I was fortunate enough to book an avios return a month or so ago when there was still availabilty. Not interested at this price as will get no extra miles and typical flight time is 6 hours. If it was £199 I might consider it if only for the possibilty of getting pushed into J on the day (I wish!)

"PVK - £139 (Feb 2019)"
Today it's £119 POUG upgrade each way for LHR-PVK
Tempting as I believe it bumps tier points from 20 to 80 and I'd need the extra 60 to renew silver ahead of end of year on Aug 8th, but not convinced I'll be flying enough next year to benefit from it, so it works out to be an expensive sandwich on the return evening flight.
