Unable to book seats on Iberia flights?

We have booked to fly to Quito via Madrid in December (with BA) and no seat options are being shown for the Quito flights. I contacted BA and apparently a plane (type) has not yet been allocated. Has anyone experience of booking Iberia, how far in advance does seat selection typically become available?

Generally, IB is quite early and then sticks to the acft type. I would say latest in May.

MAD-UIO is usually an A350, but occasionally also A330.. Beware that there are several sub variants of A330, with different seat layouts..

Go to the Iberia website and manage your booking there in order to assign seats. Use your BA booking reference and you'll be able to view the booking.

It’s hard to believe possible, but Iberia’s website is almost as unreliable as BA’s. Just keep trying.

Iberia' site is rubbish -ier than BAs. I have exactly the same problem - there is no way to change seats. I have tried Qantas, Finnair, Qatar, Jordan even without success. I have tried different browsers. None of them work,

It's too early to book seats for December in my experience - wait another few weeks and the option will appear. The Iberia booking portal is odd and unlike BA and their strict 355 day rule the Spanish have a more easy going attitude to such things and little patience goes a long way.

I have had some luck in the past viewing my booking and changing seat assignments using Iberia's iPhone app. It was still a bit temperamental

Having the same issue for May flights. I can access the seat map, it allows me to select seats but then comes up with an error. Very, very annoying.

IB seatmaps are released around the 10 month mark.

My flight is in two days and I'm seeing the same "No Seats" on the web portal, and the app doesn't even show me seat information (using Iberia's app).

So far nothing has changed. Can not reserve a seat in biz for a flight in 10/2022. Iberia told me to ask BA (booked by BA) and BA sent me to IB.

I'm having the same problem - first fight is this Sunday and still showing "no seats". 3 flights codeshare operated by IB, 4th operated by BA and can select a seat.

BA say they can't help and Iberia has long phone waits.

Happy to "suck it up" as there are no awful seats in CE (although row 1 would have been nice), but did anybody manage to solve this or will it be most likely resolved at the airport?

I had this issue and got nowhere until I tried calling BA again and the agent I spoke to knew how to make the changes. I think it depends who you get through to (unfortunately)...
