Both the Gold Priority Reward and the GGL jokers are only valid on BA metal, so China would have to reopen, and BA would have to fly where you want to go.

I meant in terms of earning points, not redeeming them. We (used to) go there a lot for business. Holidays are your more traditional destinations served by BA!

If you then redeem 4k Avios for Nectar points the household balance afterwards would be 32k but individually you would have 21.333k and wife and kids would hsve 3.56k each. If your wife redeemed for a flight individually for herself your individual balance would be affected. Overall I think it's worth having a household account but you also need to be aware of restrictions on who you can redeem for outside your friends and family list.
Thanks.

So, say I had 60K, and the family had 10K each (90K total). Would I then be able to top up my account by 10K by transferring either Nectar points or Amex points to make a 100K redemption?

Would I be able to transfer those 100K to, say, Aer Lingus, or even back to Nectar if I so wished? Or would I be restricted to redeeming on BA flights via BA?

I'm thinking that a family account is the way to go, seeing as how Avios is pretty much the only FF currency I'm using nowadays, even though BA isn't really the best airline for me to use (I'm a few miles away from a KLM outstation, so my other credit card's a Virgin one, but for a longish family holiday I'm quite happy to fly from London for the cost saving, and KLM doesn't always match up properly for a weekend away somewhere short haul.)

Yes. You could transfer in sufficient Nectar points or Amex points to add 10k Avios and then do a 100k Avios redemption. The entire household balance would go down to zero. The balances would only reduce proportionally if the redemption was below the household balance.

I'm not sure on this. I believe you can transfer your individual balance to Nectar but not the entire household in one go I think you have to link the individual BAEC account to a Nectar account although I believe you can link several BAEC accounts to the same Nectar account. Be aware there is a monthly limit of 50k Avios that can be transferred to Nectar so you can't move the entire 100k balance in one go. I don't have Aer Club account so don't know the rules on transferring to that scheme.

I guess I must be traveling on a BA/oneworld carrier right? Or Can I enter this lounge while flying with Delta for exmaple?

Yes, you can only enter a oneworld lounge based on status if flying a oneworld airline.

It looks like you are Silver until 31 March 2024, whether or not you fly in the current year (2022/23). If you want to be Silver beyond 31 March 2024, then you will need to earn 600 TPs between 9 February 2023 and 8 February 2024 (assuming no more "emergency rules").
Thank you - so I was "lucky" to get automatically extended to June 2023 - but I would get enough Avios together in my normal requalification period that I would have requalified anyway. I guess it doesn't make a difference? Or any chance that I then get extended by a year? Sorry if this has been asked before.

No, it makes no difference if you would have requalified anyway. The latest extensions have been expressly on the basis that they have protected people who have not flown and would have lost their status without that protection. It was not an extension in the sense of adding time on for everyone.

OK thank you...oh well, I guess it counts towards lifetime status.

Quick Question on Codeshare Flight

Hi All, just a quick question -

I found a QR-metal flight that's being sold as a JetBlue flight. Since the flight is on oneworld metal, can I still earn tier points from it despite its JetBlue flight number?

Thank you!

Are you booking it under the JetBlue codeshare? As JetBlue isnít oneworld it wouldnít earn anything when crediting to baec. Generally the flight needs to be oneworld operated and marketed - although there are a few exceptions to that rule, this isnít one Iím afraid.

I'd have to do that if I wish to get the discount that JetBlue is offering, unfortunately. QR is selling the same flight for a few hundred dollars more. Oh, well, it is what it is, I suppose.

I'm still confused about what will count for the four BA segments to get BA Gold. I know BA-operated flights count. What if I buy a BA-marketed, but AA-operated flight from BA's website? Will that count? Will basic economy fares count? I'm currently a BA Silver.
