Thanks. However, the 5th Freedom Routes are not the same as Codeshare marketed flights within the USA. I've seen many such flights listed on airport status boards (e.g., SQxxxx, etc) when the actual flight was AS, but not up to speed on the BA side of things being new to the program. The BA website is not showing anything I have tried to find in this regard. Hard to believe they have no codeshare flights with partners in the USA.

Cheers,

-Cyborg

Many thanks for that info! However, I was looking for USA only codeshares for the near term travels; need two flights to check the TP box to Bronze. Now that I understand the situation better (thanks to y'all) I'll just wait to tick the box until my Feb24 flights with four BA segments and enough TPs from combined AS and BA flights for Silver.

Cheers,

BA have lots of codeshares on AA but they only sell them as such in conjunction with a transatlantic segment.

I know and i should have been clearer but unless you did a 5th freedom flight you’ll have to wait as per your post. Silver is very much the sweet spot for many, I'm Silver myself, and I'm sure you’ll enjoy it when it comes along in February

Many thanks and I will also enjoy the flights I have booked: SFO-LHR F, LHR-EDI C, EDI-LHR C, LHR-SFO F (those SFO-LHR F R/T fares were very good). As well as this was a positioning flight for an SQ F Saver LHR-SIN and a return TG F KIX-BKK-LHR (UAMP saver). So, the BA flights serve both the positioning flights in style and earning with TP for status...long way around, but that is the FT way!

I just want to confirm that I have not told my wife a load of rubbish. Garrotting is the traditional means of execution over here if I have.

She is currently BA silver, her year end was on the 8th of this month leaving her with 1440 tier points. However she has a return flight to the UK (13-17 Oct) which will earn an additional 80 points.

I've told her that a two week extension is possible, and to ring the executive club on her return to ask for it.

1. Is it, as I have told her, pretty much a formality or is it at the whim of individual agents? Are there cases of people being refused the extension?
2. Does it apply to upgrades in status (in this case would be from Silver to Gold) or only for maintaining existing status?
3. 160 of her tier points are from BA holiday double points offer. Does this have any impact?
4. Would it not be better to request the two week extension before the flights have been flown?

Thanks

1. No. No.
2. Both.
3. It shouldnt but there have been a few reports that BAEC hasnt recognized some BAH 2x tier points and people have needed to call to request a review. See:

Quick update:

All went fine, she phoned once the points had been posted and extension to year granted without any issue. Seven working days later she was a newly (re-) minted Gold.

One oddity is that card shows 2 years (ie to November 2025) gold status. I presume that'll get corrected at some stage?

Absolute radio silence on this, but not only is there potentially two years of gold, but the 80 late points from October are also carried over into the new year.

Not expecting anything, but we are disinterestedly (but certainly not uninterestedly) looking at what the final situation will be. After all, the hope was for her to get Gold for this year, which has been achieved. Anything over and above that is bunce.

NB One report here had someone lose their expected status because they planned their TP earning travel based on erroneous TPs carried over from the previous year which then got corrected later on. So unfortunately it is still best to plan as if those TP didn't exist. Arguing that it is their error and they should stick with it doesn't fly.

That's what we feel too. If they stick (points and add'l year) all well and good; if they get changed later, then so be it.

The answer is probably buried somewhere in the 39 pages.. but please help.

Booking on the QR website a flight SIN to LHR via Doha.
the 2nd leg is on a QR flight number but on BA metal. Does this count as one of the 4 BA metal flights?

Finnair for BA, booked on the BA website, does that count as a BA metal flight?

I assume the answer to both questions is yes?
