Although I suggest you go back to BAEC now and get them to sort that out now.
Haha, exactly, will do! Waterside already got a stern letter in the post as they have not paid me out pursuant to EC, so I'll get on the TP stuff after that is cleared up! I am looking forward to experiencing the First Wing every single time, though getting CCR is a bit of a stretch goal..

I’m sure I’ve seen my question discussed somewhere on this board, but my searches are coming up blank….

My collection year ends April 8. My travel companion does not yet have a BAEC membership. Is there a date range that she should aim for when she applies for membership so that she could possibly sync up her year end date with mine going forward?

TIA

From post #2 of this thread (not sure how to link to it):

You will be set a membership year which initially lasts between 12 and 13 months. The actual duration is dictated by the date you join. For example, if you sign up on 12 January, your year end will be 8 February the following year. Similarly, if you join on 24 October, your year end will be 8 November the following year. After your first year has passed your membership year cycles in more regular 12 monthly intervals.

Therefore if you want your travel companion to have a year end date of 8 April she should sign up some time between 9 and 30 March.

I thought it also depended on crediting your first flight to BAEC but can't see that mentioned anywhere.

See also the T&Cs at
https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb...and-conditions

3.6. Applicants will be admitted to Membership on the date they activate their account. An applicant can activate their Membership in any of the following ways: (a) joining via Ba.com; (b) signing the Card; or (c) quoting their Membership number to either British Airways or a Service Partner. By activating their Membership, Members agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions (as amended from time to time) and the information on Ba.com.

From my experience it depends on when you take your first flight. I have by BAEC account set up in April upon getting my credit card, however my membership year ends in August as my first flight credited to BAEC was flown in July.

Doh! Who knew it would be on the first page! I recall seeing a discussion on it a few months ago, so didn’t check out earlier notes.

Thank you for the information.

I will sign her up sometime in late March. We fly out mid April, so hopefully the worst outcome is that she ends up with a May 8 end date going forward if it depends on first flight credit. That should be enough overlap in accrual dates

Hi. Reached Gold in December 2022 and my card will expire May 2024. The ‘retain Gold’ area on BA.com now says I need 35 more tier points by 8th April 2023 to retain Gold. Does this mean if I collect 35 tier points by then my gold status will carry on to 2025 or that I’m back down to Silver on 8th April 2023 if I don’t?

Grateful for any assistance; entirely possible I'm missing something on the BA site, but I can't find an option for this.

I've previously had cases of Avios not being credited to my account after using the portal for shopping, and apart from Sainsburys (boo!) claims have been reported and resolved reasonably quickly.

What I have now is two 'pending' sums which are now well beyond the 120 day window (they're for hotel stays) following the end of my visit, but which haven't actually been added. I don't seem to be able to find an option to effectively hurry the depositing of these Avios. As I say, they're listed as pending, but they're now late actually being credited - any tips?

No, you are Gold until May 2024 now.
It's just saying you need 35 points because you reached/retained gold using the reduced amount (1125) and now you're at 1465. Classic BA IT.

Thank you! I was contemplating doing a 2 day mileage run before April if it made a difference.

Hi,

Apologies I've tried to work this our but I am obviously not that bright!

I need some better understanding on the renewal date mechanism and therefore a new strategy for my BAEC membership. Up until the event we don't mention it seemed simple but it looks like my status has changed off the back of the extensions.

8th September collection year end date and a card expiry of 31st October.

I crept over the keep Silver deadline last year so am now left as Collection ends 8/9/23 but my card expiry is 31/10/24?

Second to that I now have 510 Tier points but won't make Gold in the remainder of the year especially as I am using up some avios for flights rather than paying for them at the moment (don't want to hold too many avios in case they are meddled with). So what's my strategy for keeping Silver again come '25?

So yes if you were extended or requalified by the end of the year under the reduced thresholds you will have another year - so you have status for your current membership year and the one after.

Any tier points you earn between now and 8 September 2023 don't really count other than for lifetime TPs, or if you hit 1500 in your current membership year you will immediately move to gold with a card expiry of 31 oct 2024.

when you get to 9 sep 2023 your TPs will go down to zero and everything you earn from that point to 8 sep 2024 will set what status you will be in the membership year after running in to 2025

Great thanks for clearing that up. So my year will be sponsored by avios until September and then back on the cash flights from there.

Cheers

Apologies but a Columbo moment required in the form of just one more question….

Why did I get two years of status rather than the one, certainly not complaining as Silver is challenging for me to keep up with.

When you qualify for a status you get the rest of that current membership year and one full membership year after. You card expiry is updated at the time you cross the threshold to reflect this.

If you are just renewing then your card expiry doesn't change until your year end, and at that point another year is added.

Thank you for that. I am about to attain the dizzy heights of bronze towards the end of April and thought that I may just have about two months worth of it before it dropped off so very useful to know it will expire end April next year.
