Grabbed a First class 241 reward flight to Singapore for next May. BA11 and BA12 listed as A380. Hope it remains that way. Would be our first time on an A380.

I hope Singapore is letting people in by then. I've had three trips to SIN cancelled and have an FTV for two First returns, which I am desperate to use. You'll love the A380.

I favor flying Club Suite on the A350 on flying CW on The A380.

The only advantage point for flying the A380 is the First class cabin.

Certainly hope so! This is our backup plan as our trip next January, also first class booked during the sale, looks more and more unlikely!

The 380 to MIA seems only for the Christmas holiday period. Last flight I see is 9 January when it is replaced by non F 777.

I'll be flying LHR-CPT mid January and the 2nd departure got switched from a 77L config to a 77J config (LGW aircraft?). Really bummed about that. I really hope it changes back to suites again.

Friends in Spain are saying that the A380 continued operation during the winter season 21/22 is still a matter of debate. If passenger forward bookings don't climb up sharply then they might go back to Madrid.

I would fully expect that will change in due course. There are currently no A380 operations in the system beyond early January, but BA may well add them in on a rolling basis, hopefully!

Unlikely on the basis that they're running out of long haul aircraft without them. Depends how readily available the final three 777s in storage are (VIIA/V/W), as well as 787/A350 delivery delays.

It's an expensive operation bringing a fleet back into service. The very least I can see is one or two daily frequencies remaining, rotating the active aircraft and enough to keep the crew current.

Im not sure that’s completely correct. I’m booked on A380 to Miami in April next year - but who knows…

Showing A380 for our booking to Singapore at the end of May and the return in June.

Are they? BA is still flying 50-60% of the load they used to fly in this time of the year, and HAL's latest figures (for september) are 66% down vs 2019.

It's even more expensive to fly an empty plane!

I'm just repeating what I'm being told by my friends who are looking after the planes at present. They know some will return into service, but they're being told that they might come back to MAD after the festivities.

Currently maybe, but they’re planning a large ramp up over the next couple of months - assuming the US opening goes ahead. There will be very little fat in the schedule without the A380s, especially if the 787 delivery delays continue.

BA have been flying empty planes for the last 18 months. This isn’t last year, the landscape is very different. The A380 is being used on high capacity routes with multiple daily frequencies. If they were bringing 12 back I’d agree, but there’s plenty of use for 5 aircraft, again, assuming the US reopening goes ahead.

I still fully expect to see the A380 on the JNB route before the end of the year too.

"Assuming the US reopening goes ahead"

that's the issue. It's October 13th and right now we have no idea of when it's going to happen. Maddening.
