Normally ropes will part in the middle and not actually restrain anyone, top or bottom of the stairs! I know the rear stairs have a substantial gate for use in flight to stop trolleys from the Galley ending up in the stairs :-p

Great news that BA are sticking with the A380. I would put one on a daily Orlando run as I am sure there will be huge demand and the old CW would be fine.

Understand that the earlier departures (BA207/206) are 777 with F, no CS and the later (BA209/208) 777 is without F, but with CS.
My guess would be the later rotation, disappointingly for me as the CS experience will continue to elude me a while longer 😏
The initial plan release which came out yesterday suggested both Miami rotations were moving to A380’s - which is a big leap in terms of seat numbers over what is available today, but perhaps BA are seeing strong demand for family trips to Florida for December?

Both Miami rotations going to A380 would = 4x daily movements

Are there any details of which European flights they will operate?

Thanks for the info Pilot37. I’m wondering, with 4 routes and 5 airframes, if 1 will be used as a backup. An A380 AOG would cause quite a large logistical headache, I would have thought, as a full A380 would need subbed by 2 smaller aircraft?

Just reviewed the plan again and noticed my error. Indeed MIA / LAX / DXB and DFW (TBC on the last one) will get 1 A380 a day, thanks for the correction.

Sorry GeeMac - my error in interpreting the plan, MIA will get 1 x A380 daily. Because of flight times I believe LAX (and possibly DFW) technically need 1.5 aircraft to maintain a daily rotation, so the 5 aircraft will end up being rotated through the routes with some down time, but without a ‘spare’ sitting idle all the time.

With all those routes having more than one rotation a day theres never really been a need for a A380 spare. The long haul spare is often a 773 (56J) as that was the highest capacity In time I guess the 350 is the best back up aircraft with its bigger load.
When they need a 380 spare they'd normally sacrifice the JNB and sub that to a 747. The day long sit in the South African sun helped pursuade the sacifice

From "Head For Points" :Madrid is the 14.45/15.00 down to MAD and the 19.55/20.00 back.

Frankfurt is the 07.10/08.35, returning as the 10.55/12.05.

No probs.
And back to my original question - which rotation is likely to be A380?

would these MAD and FRA rotations also work Saturday and Sunday fights? I'd like to do one again (I did the original LHR-FRA A380 flights) but midweek doesn't work for me.
