Entry to Hungary
The labyrinth of different websites including the FCO and Hungarian Police seem to suggest that if double vaccinated one still needs a PCR to enter Hungary. i am due to fly LHR to BUD next week. BA's travel tool suggests otherwise. I know that the NHS Covid pass is not the same as the EU pass, which would make matters straightforward, but can anyone clarify for me if I need a PCR before boarding at LHR T5?
Many thanks

The GOV website Entry requirements - Hungary travel advice - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) says
However, you can enter Hungary by road, rail and waterway from all the countries neighbouring Hungary (Croatia, Austria, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine) without any epidemiological restrictions, regardless of your nationality and coronavirus immunity.
Foreign (including UK) nationals may also enter Hungary without any epidemiological restrictions if they hold a negative PCR test conducted in the previous 72 hours in one of the following places: all EU member states and candidate countries; all OECD member states; all NATO member states, member states of the Turkic Council and Bahrain, China, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Russia; Singapore, Ukraine, and the UAEF.
The document proving the PCR test result should be either in Hungarian or English and should contain the following data: date, type and result of test, and evidence of where the test was performed. You must also meet other general conditions for entry (e.g. a valid travel document)

Hi,
I agree that the fco.gov advice, as well as HU police, is not the best and confusing. Below question I sent to the HU Embassy in London asking what the restrictions/requirements by Air for GBR nationals from the UK are.
ReplyDear Sir,
Regarding your enquiry I would like to inform you that as a foreign national you may enter Hungary without quarantine obligation from 7th of August, however, you must have a proof of a negative PCR test when entering Hungary. You must take a test even if:
You must take the test in the UK (by a private provider) 72 hours prior to your departure. Please, make sure that the test will include the following information: date of test, type of the test (must be PCR) and the result.
If, upon entry, you do not present proof you tested negative, you will be required to self –isolate for 10 days or until you have 2 negative PCR test results, both taken in Hungary with at least 48 hours passing between the examinations.
If you have any further question according to the entry requirements, please contact the officialCOVID-hotline 003615501825.
Kind regards,

Be aware that putting your NHS code into the French app doesnt automatically get you an EU Green Pass. Saw people being turned away at the TAP desks because they were trying this. Your vaccines must be administered in EU in order to qualify as a green pass for travel purposes.
