Eligible Flights: Avios bookings

Hello,

Apologies if this is a silly question or answered elsewhere but do reward flights count as eligible flights towards tier status? I know they won’t earn avios or tier points but would they counts towards the number of flights needed for the bronze, silver etc memebership?

Is it also still the policy that rewards flights can be cancelled for a fee?

thanks!

Hi,

No they do not.

They can be refunded for a fee ( more than 24 hrs prioor to departure) or currently you can cancel for a FTV to be used later with no fees.

If the flight was booked with Avios.com due to a Lloyds voucher what is the process?

My eligible flights increased from 1 to 3 following a return LCY- GLA trip last month. No tier points of course but may be useful if BA do not extend my year-end.

Interesting. Given you pay taxes on top of the avios, seems odd they wouldn’t count but can understand the flip side too. Thanks

As my earlier comment was an aside may I ask again who I contact for an ftv where the booking was necessarily made directly with Avios as it included an upgrade voucher?
We are going to Japan and don't feel that it will be in a sufficiently vaccinated state for our comfort by October.
