Exec Club Silver seat selection.
 
Just made Silver, and managed to select my seats for upcoming flights.

One anomoly, maybe or not, on a flight back from Miami on American Airlines ( BA flight number) I still have to pay for seat selection apart from a few rows of free seats. Is this normal practice on non BA metal flights?

you may have to wait a few days for your upgraded status to sync across to the aa system.

Probably a Sabre - Amadeus issue where AA.com is probably recognizing you as Bronze ( AA allows BA Bronze's to choose non-MCE seats for free ).
MCE seats should be available for you within the next few days.

The secret for me is not being based in the UK.
Achieved Gold for the first time in March 2021
