Great report, though I have to say running to 'MAN' sounds like my idea of self-flagellation...

Thanks, but luckily I have plenty to keep me busy.

I must admit, despite all the stuff going on at the moment, it was good to be up early and packing one's bag etc for a good old Tier Point run.

I'll probs update the thread for the journey back to LHR. MAN airport is a new one on me so has to be worth a few snaps...lol

Thanks

I've been reading trip reports etc here for years, especially as an unregistered lurker, and I thought it about time I did one myself as giving something back. However, I wanted this to focus more on the BA side and what's changed due to Covid - so as to provide some info of what others can expect if they find themselves in a position to do a TP run from LHR T5 during these difficult times.

Yes, I jumped on it as soon as I saw the price. Normally I have got CE tickets cheaper via SkyScanner but this time the BA app delivered the goods.

Nice report and photos. It's been 9.5 months since I've been through LHR. Longest I've gone since 1963

Nice report. Like a few others, haven't been on a plane or through LHR since early March...

One thing I've learned is where Hambantota is! A city I'd never heard of until seeing it at the bottom of the departure board!

That piqued my interest too. What is that flight?

Hanbantota is a large new deep water port in Sri Lanka, also has an international airport which is quite the boondoggle with a story involving a former president and Chinese investment. Must either be a charter for ship crews or a one off freighter.

Nice pics Cap'n.

FWIW, the former president is now PM and his brother is president.

Sound familiar?
