The agent had no idea on how this all works, but then I guess that would be asking too much. This would be super helpful in my pursuit of top status for next year. And for those who are going to ask, it was $499.
This would be classified as an "AUP" rather than a "POUG". Either way, you will earn miles/TPs, lounge access (if you don't have status), luggage allowance corresponding to the new upgraded class. This is what makes BA's upgrade offers standout IMO as lots of other airlines strip out all the other perks apart from the better seat itself!

£79 offered for a one-way booking LHR - OTP on Xmas Day 2021!
Received notification this morning that the flight was cancelled. Wasn't happy with the alternate BA flight provided, called BA Gold line and changed onto QR business LHR - DOH - OTP, long routing I know but I'm not complaining - QR QSuite, 180 TPs for (as opposed to 80 I would've earned), not withstanding that my ticket (including POAG) cost only £176 and I've managed to snap this up. Best decision ever to accept the POUG!

Best £176 spent ever on flights! Lol. What made this even sweeter was that I only made the booking 3 days ago, POUG didn’t appear on the booking till yesterday, I took the punt and very next day flight was cancelled and the above came to fruition!

Great deal. I proposed QR when BA cancelled an ATH-LHR flight but they weren't having it.

I think it really does depend on the agent. Luck of the draw. Some will literally say nothing but BA, and if not happy then you can have a refund. Some will advise limited/ridiculous options (even though there are better/preferable options available), which again leaves one feeling coerced to accept a BA alternative or cancel. They should’ve been able to book you on QR though. I also think perhaps I was lucky as overall there were very limited options from LHR to OTP on Xmas day. QR wasn’t proactively offered, I was given choices of a mix of BA-LH, LX, KL. Ultimately I looked on Skyscanner and filtered out OW and saw QR option, then essentially said (politely) - “Look, I can see QR is selling this route, I know it’s long/crazy, but I’d honestly prefer that. Agent kept on hold for a minute, then back saying “Of course we can do that, that option was right at the bottom and I didn’t suggest it at first as it was quite long!”

Apologies if asked before, however are POUG offers typically the same value for HBO fares as for full economy fares?

If you do a POUG on an award ticket from another OW airline partner's program, do you get any TP or Avios? The specifics of my question would apply to a CW award on Alaska, SFO-LHR, from CW award to F? I believe you can't even do this on an Avios award ticket, but the counter agent at SFO was more than willing to do this upgrade for me on my AS award ticket (although perhaps she didn't realize that it was an award ticket?). The ticket number does not start with 125, rather with 027, from memory.

Generally other oneworld airlines don't credit at the upgraded cabin level when you do a POUG. The fact you are doing a POUG on reward ticket probably makes it even less likely tbh. I am not sure we have had any reports for AS yet though.

Tier points for POUGs & AUPs on oneworld airlines

Anyone else having trouble purchasing upgrades today?

I'm being offered to upgrade LHR-FRA for £43 but when I click through it says "Sorry, the price you selected is no longer available. Please continue to get the latest prices." Pressing continue takes me back to the start, and shows the same £43 price.

Of course I've tried again a few times and the price shown remains the same and trying to buy it gives the same error message.

£43 sounds quite cheap for a POUG on that route. You may be able to call to do it, but it would only work if the agent can see that price too.

I had the same problem yesterday via the app and the website. Called BA (expecting the offer to have gone) but they offered even cheaper upgrade than what I was quoted.
