Web Special awardsWeb Special awards are available exclusively on aa.com and may be offered on select flights and dates for fewer miles than either the MileSAAver or AAnytime award level. Mileage levels vary by date and flight. When available, you’ll see the applicable award level while booking your trip. Keep in mind, tickets that include a Web Special award don’t allow changes, but you can cancel and reinstate your miles at no charge.
The connections almost never show on ba.com. You must search for availability for each segment individually, then book separately or call to book them together, and you must pay in avios for each segment individually.
I don't know what else to tell you other than to keep searching and calling in (earlier last year there was a problem with ba.com showing availability and several people reported being able to find AA flights only by calling.
When you called did you ask the BAEC representative to check availability on Alaska?

In the summer there was an unannounced stealth increase in the UUA prices for ET to CE, and they are now I believe all 2k Avios higher than the values you have in the table.
I did flag it on last years thread, but effectively they were using the difference between the 50p RFS Avios rates instead of the difference between the 17.50 RFS Avios rates.

Hi long time lurker, rare poster. I have a question about UuA that I would like to clarify?
If I book a ticket through the BA call centre, so 125 coded, with BA prime (in T class) and AA prime flight numbers on it, would it be possible to use UuA on the BA Prime legs?
TIA

Hi, This may seem like a stupid question (sorry!) - I'm hoping to redeem some of my BA avios on an Aer Lingus flight - Now I understand the redemption being x amount of avios + taxes.
But can you choose to use less avios and pay more money whilst booking through the BA Call Centre - A bit like you could if you transferred to Aer Club and Booked Online? Or just did a standard BA flight redemption online?

Is it possible to book e.g. VIE-DOH-PRG on Qatar if there is time between flights less than 24 hours and award availability? Obviously not possible online, can it be done on the phone? The idea of spending my birthday at home this year kills me.
I know I'd be denied boarding on VIE-DOH if it is booked as OW.

Looking for JL First awards, a notification pops up:
"Currently, we are unable to offer First Class on JAL flights departing from 01 April 2021. Please call us to check availability and make a booking."
I'm confused. Does this mean that:
"[BAEC is] unable to offer First Class [awards] on JAL flights departing from 01 April 2021."
Or rather:
"Please call us to check [JAL First Class award] availability and make a booking."
?

Hi
A quick question on upgrading flights with avios.
I have checked the reward availability for flights to Canada.
On the outbound there is availability in Premium economy.
For the return, there is availability in Business.
The flight is out to one city and returning from another (open jaw).
I wish to pay in cash for the economy in the outbound and premium economy in the return and then use avios to upgrade.
Will the avios upgrade cost be the difference in cost between a reward flight between the two classes?
Also - if I cancel - will i get refunded the avios as well as a voucher for the cash cost?
I would call BA on this but find this site more useful than customer services, to be quite honest.
Thanks in advance.

If you cancel for a FTV the ticket will effectively be held in suspense within the FTV. You will not lose what you've paid but you won't physically get any cash back.
If you just cancel it will depend on the T&Cs of the underlying ticket purchased as to what you would get back depending also whether you book under the Book with confidence policy applicable at the time.
Bear in mind when booking economy not all fares are upgradeable. It might work out cheaper just to book WTP in both directions and upgrade the return bearing in mind the greater number of Avios earned and the extra Tier Points you will earn back.

Yes the Avios required to upgrade is the difference between the two classes eg Off Peak fare WTP London to Toronto is 26k Avios and 50k Avios in CW so you would pay 24k to upgrade from WTP to CW.

For my info, what is FTV? Thanks

FTV stands for Future Travel Voucher - it is the scheme that BA is currently offering in its Book With Confidence scheme (BwC for short) where you can cancel a flight for any reason up to one hour before departure in exchange for a voucher to use against a future flight
