Latest guidance
From Heathrow Airport Limited, 22:14 GMT 19 Dec
Following UK Govt. advice, if you are in Tier 4, you should not be travelling unless it is legally permitted. If you’re in Tiers 1-3, you can still fly from Heathrow but should carefully consider whether you need to.
In light of the new tier restrictions, passengers should NOT plan unnecessary time at the airport. Please allow 2 hours ahead of departure for short haul flights and 3 hours for long haul flights.

Grasping at straws here but does anyone here know if tier 4 restrictions are actually legally binding from midnight on Sunday? Doesn't this have to go through parliament or something to be enshrined in law?

I suspect we will need to wait for the regulations to have chapter and verse on this.

Heathrow has tweeted that although the airport is in Tier 4, Tiers 1-3 can travel through “though should carefully consider whether they need to”.

Does anyone know what will actually happen at the airport? I've read the thread from November from which it seems there are no checks if any done and people were still allowed to board the flight. Whether they were 'permitted' for whatever reason is up to debate, but nobody at the airport was making decisions to stop people from checking in/boarding.
Will it be the same for the next 2 weeks?
If anyone flies out of LHR would be great to hear a personal experience...

Not really, he showed me his warrant card, said something about "extra security check" and then asked why i was travelling to Russia. He inspected my passport, which has the Business Visa (and lots of Russian entry/exit stamps from previous business trips) and then let me proceed. I should say this was Aeroflot from T2 - I was originally booked on BA but they cancelled the flights

Wonder whether Male, Cancun and Punta Cana will be cancelled over the next 2 weeks?
In regards my situation and I am being totally serious here, the Dominican Republic is the sole source location for larimar, so I actually do need to go there for work related reasons.

Fulfilling legal obligations
You may also leave home to fulfil legal obligations, or to carry out activities related to buying, selling, letting or renting a residential property, or vote in certain elections taking place overseas.https://www.gov.uk/guidance/tier-4-stay-at-home

I know it's early days and we don't have actual rules published, but consider this case
Dual UK/US citizen with residences in both countries currently living in Tier 4, booked to go to US on Dec 28 already. Do the internationl travel rules apply to a US citizen returning to home country?
thoughts?

I have a policy that covers covid, but 99.9 percent of polices invalidate when you travel against official government guidance, I confirmed it with Amex and avanti
