Tokyo Plane Change, first but no first?

We have a holiday in Japan planned for April 2021, flying Club World.

We were originally meant to be flying first in April this year, but COVID. So changed the flights to next April, but there was no First available. IIRC we were going to be on an A350, but had an email this week a out an operational change, and now on this

It looks like there is a First cabin, but I can't see any availablity either with cash or reward.

Does anyone know if BA will make First available again?

Cheers, Stephen.

Worse thing is you have gone from First to old Club World. I’d seriously review this booking and see what options you have

We have the same change from A350 to B787/9. The aircraft has a first cabin but they don't sell an F service to/from Tokyo - sometimes they will let you use the F cabin, sometimes not. Look for a thread about 'FLUB' - ie Club in F.

We also have the same 1 year postponement from earlier this year but I can't say it looks any more likely next year so far.

Personally, I'd leave it as it is for now.

Schedule and aircraft will remain subject to change for a while, as well as entry restrictions into Japan in any case.

Theres a partnership with JAL on that route and they do have first. The partnership means the JAL flights should have a BA number and you should be able to get BA to put you on that flight in first, which looks very nice from pictures.

I think JB is meant to be JV- joint venture.

On a 2-4-1 voucher though?

I think if you re-read the OP, they have not been bumped. The original 2020 booking was in F, the re-booked trip for next year was in CW on a 350.

This latest change is just 350 to 787 - new club suite to old CW - and with the added interest of an unused F section as it is (currently) a 787/9.

It is JB: a Joint Business - see https://mediacentre.britishairways.c...actsheets-3/10.

Also sadly the chances of being able to enter as a tourist in April is going to be very very small, things grind slowly here so I would expect that they will open up more for business travelers first and then focus on Olympic visitors.

I would expect normal tourism after the Olympics, not before.

I noticed the same thing on our Tokyo booking. We're due to go September 2021 (I am cautiously hopeful that Japan will be open by then). We also on a 2 for 1, but I did mainly book to experience the Club Suite. We'll be on our honeymoon so I'm tempted to instead switch to a route with First, such as Hong Kong or Shanghai.]

Note: The First seats were available for me to select (as a silver) but then it won't let me confirm the selection. I was hoping we could sit in the First cabin at least, but it sounds like this isn't guarenteed unless the plane is very full and it will likely only be decided 24 hours before.
