No Credit for AA flight - Fare class C [new revenue Business Class - now credits]
Recently, American Airlines added Fare class "C" to their discount business class offering.
(previously, it was for miles/instrument upgrades) Last week, I purchased a domestic AA discounted business class fare that booked into C, and credited it to my BA account. It showed up on my account as earning 0 Avios and 0 TP, because BA has not updated their systems to properly credit (I am making the presumption that they will do this in the future, as it is similar to I and R classes) I sent an email to BA customer service to address this issue - I will provide an update when I have a resolution. Just thought I would share this in case someone else has the same issue. |
It will be interesting to see how many Avios it earns. From the BA web site it say that C class "May earn 25%, 50% or 100% of flown miles depending on the underlying class."

https://www.britishairways.com/en-us...-avios/flights but they dont break out the remaining business class all-cash buckets so presumably/hopefully maintain the same when they move C in line with the others. but good to know! |

https://www.britishairways.com/en-us...-avios/flights that was when C was only an upgrade class. In that case, it would have earned whatever the underlying coach fare would have earned (hence the 25/50/100%) From my understanding, AA is now using C for upgrades, but also offering C as a paid discount business fare (my situation) Paid C class "should" earn the same as I or R discounted business, IMO. I am hopeful that AA and BA's IT can sort it out (LOL) On a semi-related note, AA uses J class for both Full Fare Business, and it's special (reduced) miles award. BA's computer can tell the difference, as I have flown on both and received credit when it was paid J, and (properly) did not receive credit when it was a miles ticket. |
C class became miles-earning for travel from 27 October 2020.

A mate of mine used a SWU one way on our tickets once. I UUA'd the outbound from WTP, and the return was in O I think, and we were in Business. We got the 35 (as it was at the time) points for that sector.

What was the date of OP's travel? That will determine whether and what the ticket earns.

As you traveled on 31 October, I would make a PDF of the AA chart (which shows the effective date) and include that with your email to BA.

Update: BA properly credited my account (same Avios and TP as I,R,J,D class on AA)
thanks to BA for the prompt resolution. |
