BA lauching 747 £999 Club World fares to commemorate ....

To commemorate the final 747 flight today, British Airways is making 747 return Club World seats available for £999 each.

The easiest way is probably to use the Low Fare Finder on ba.com - https://www.britishairways.com/trave...r/public/en_gb

Participating destinations are:

“Atlanta, Austin, Nashville, Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, Charleston, Denver, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, Ney York, Orlando, Portland, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Seattle, San Francisco, San Jose (California), Tampa, Washington, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Mexico City, Cancun, Islamabad, Lahore, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Dubai, Muscat, Tel Aviv, Cape Town, Mauritius, Male, Seychelles”

(Who can spot all the spelling mistakes in that list?!)

Minimum stays are required:

a. Saturday night stay is required for travel in Club World from London to Atlanta, Austin, Nashville, Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, Charleston, Denver, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, Ney York, Orlando, Portland, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Seattle, San Fransisco, San Jose (California), Tampa, Washington, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Mexico City, Cancun, Islamabad, Lahore, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Cape Town, Mauritius, Male, Seychelles.
b. 3 night minimum stay is required for Dubai, Muscat, Tel Aviv”

In terms of dates:

“selected outbound travel dates between 01 November 2020 and 31 March 2021. All travel must be complete by 31 March 2021.” (Arguably this is not hugely smart given how many US destinations are on the list)

Who can spot all the places they won’t actually be flying to by March on that list?

How can anyone commit to a paid flight to the US on the basis it must also be completed by next March? It's only 5 months away.

With Australia planning on pushing back on travel until end of 2021, are we certain the US will open their borders for badly hit Spain, France, Belgium and UK travellers any time soon?

29 of 45 destinations in the USA and Canada who haven't accepted Europeans on direct flights for nearly 7 months. This and the recent Benelux fares are making me wonder how low the BA bank balance must be.

Use the deposit function me thinks !

I assume a route cancelled by BA rather than voluntarily by you, can be shunted backwards to dates beyond 31/03 without further fare charge ?

An offer for the optimists!

I have booked Seychelles as a back up for Jan, had always been my plan B for South Africa, but saving ~£1500 pp pushed me into booking it now, rather than later 😀

Unfortunately, for a number of customers, the story will quite likely become: "British Airways is borrowing £999 interest free which they will refund to you in cash or voucher in few months when they cancel your flights".

Booked CPT for ten days in January for £1100 each, ex NCL, with car hire for the whole trip. Same price as booking the flights only, and I noly have to lend BA £350 for now. I suspect this holiday won't happen but Swiss cancelled the flights I had for January and I do so want to spend my birthday in South Africa.

Edit: with four flights in my itinerary, there's a good chance one will be cancelled or moved, which should allow me to move the holiday to a later date for free.

Thank you for the heads up.
Managed to replace my December trip to CPT in Prem Econ with one of these fantastic business fares. Been a good two days with this and the 50% off avios promotion.
Just need the government to open the borders now....

Just booked Male in Feb - well, paid a deposit whilst I look at accommodation! Having missed out on three holidays this year (including one to the Maldives for my wife's 40th in two weeks!) I'm going to take the plunge despite the understandable reservations. If the worst happens, thanks to the 50% rewards sale yesterday and a rebooking of a June flight, I've ended up with a few hundred thousand avios in the account, enough for two more off peak return CW rewards, and the cost of the MLE tickets will cover the tax due.

So worst case (not including BA going bump 🤔) is I end up with loads of air miles, a companion voucher and a few grand on an e-voucher - and no holidays! Best case I get to finally tick off the Maldives at about a third of the price, visit Dubai again but in First (for the first time) all for an absolute fraction of what it should cost. After a year of being stuck in Blighty, I'm willing to take the risk - fingers crossed everyone please!! 😁
