Firstly you need to wait for the actual cancellation notice to come through, but if BA are running direct flights in October (which they are and which won't be impacted for a quite a while (if at all), I doubt you'll have the option of rebooking via HEL if they can fly you directly to WAW from LHR themselves.

The on-line rebooking tool will offer flights in original booking class only, so if both BA and AY options are available - it will offer both. In my case for outbound I was only offered AY options (no I-class), but for return I could select 2 BA flights or 3 AY options. AY flights book on BA codes, so they earn avios tier bonus

Looks like April cancellations are flying through and flights are being cancelled.

For those trying to rebook for October:
  • on-line tool will show you flights only in your original booking class (e.g. I), but might show options via HEL
  • on the phone BA agents will rebook you onto any BA flight regardless of the booking class, if lucky they might rebook via HEL on AY (remember to use BA codes if you ask for it!)
Hope to see you in Warsaw in October

Schedule has been zeroed out up until 6th June, but not all flights have been cancelled yet. My outbound 22/4 was cancelled, but return on 25/4 has not - both avios tickets, so I have requested a full refund. I reckon April date is not happening.

My cheap CE dates in May have now been officially cancelled, so moved them to October , and while a Finnair connection was offered, it was only giving me economy vs CE on BA - so no prizes for guessing which I opted for!

Same, however I am departing from MAN. so MAN-HEL-WAW has been offered in Business. I am going for this, its 240 TP v 160 so I am happy.

I also get to use the Finnair Platinum Wing on the 4hour layover on the way home.

Now some drama, the flight wasn't ticketed - so couldn't change online. Phone call reveals they couldn't override it. Apparently it was bounced back to the booking agent and they didn't bother to do anything.

Now awaiting call from Newcastle team....

Bump

Do we think this is going ahead?
Not sure I can afford the time off for an Amber trip.
Worth finding a new date - Im guessing the flight will be cancelled anyway?
I have 12 months from feb/march 2021 to re-book in the ticket validity.

It's June, it's scheduled for October. Let's worry about it in September?

Looking at the current state of affairs it seems our government does not want us to travel, so all countries are on the amber list, including those with far fewer cases than UK, that's the case for Poland too. I have a feeling that they'll relax the rules and add more countries to the green list once school's summer holiday is over, so less people would be willing to travel. But it's too early to worry about it. Year ago I'd be booking trips for November-March assuming pandemic would be over. This year I book/rebook trips 1-2 weeks in advance - when I know what to expect. At the moment, I have no idea what to expect in October...
