KUL drops F

Seems 787-9 has been switched for 787-8 - and First dropped as a result.
Can't see the full scope of schedule affected.
Now trying to work out where to (try and) head instead in F this December. 😔

Just fly F with Malaysian...most airlines now are better than BA anyway.

MAS don’t offer a First Class anymore. On aircraft with F they offer Business Suite.

Yes really disappointed as kul was a good entry point into Far East and usually possible to secure F. Have been downgraded to club think F will disappear off most routes and not be reinstated

But maybe that was the problem: it's getting difficult to maintain first-class as an aspiration for avios collectors.

Same issue for Nov/Dec flights. If aircraft change to 787-8 then no Club Suite right?

If it's any conciliation in my opinion the chances of these flights running and tourists from Europe being admitted to Malaysia this year without quarantine is very slim. The situation is well under control there and they'll be keen to keep it that way!

Sadly I think you're right, I'm supposed to be going to Malaysia twice later this year (not on BA) and not very optimistic about the chances.

Yes, and everything in the Business Suite cabin is the same high level as when it was called F (service, f&b etc.)

Definitely not F&B. It’s now business class catering.

With a lot of 787-9s switching to US services, I suspect there are insufficient frames. I

I used to enjoy F to KUL and will miss it.

Hadn't Malaysia just been added to some sort of exemption list ? Suggesting the chances of quarantine requirements pretty slim in near term

Exactly this, I too enjoyed positioning to SE Asia in F on this route. I guess I’d use SIN instead as the 789s take mainly US.

this was certainly not true in March when we flew to/from KUL although differences were not massive. Champagne definitely much better.

The problem is their end. As per https://www.kayak.com/travel-restrictions#malaysia :
All arriving travelers will be tested on arrival, and are subject to a 14-day quarantine requirement in a government facility. All costs for the quarantine are borne by the traveler.
Sounds like fun. Not.
