Voucher for cancelled Avios booking
I had a flight booked using full Avios. I then cancelled it and instead of getting the Avios returned I have been provided with a “voucher”. I am not sure why?
The email from BA provides no explanation of what the voucher is or what value it has. Simply to call them to use it.
Would call to ask more but thought the experts here might know first? 😊

This thread should be useful on how to use the voucher.
If you wanted the actual avios back, you would have had to call them before the voucher, I believe
Rebooking with e-voucher

Did you click on cancellation options online and fill in the form on the future travel voucher application page?
there is more information in the thread linked to above and in the main coronavirus refund/rebooking thread wiki. Basically the value of your booking is held on the voucher now. You can call up to make a new booking using the voucher up to April 2022.

basically the options for cancelled flights are cancel and get a full refund where everything is refunded, or an FTV where everything is held on that. There isn’t an option to get an FTV for part of it and the rest refunded.
there may be reasons why a FTV is advantageous for a reward booking such as those made with 241 voucher or where there is a need to stop avios expiring.

I've been trying to get a refund of the avios on a reward booking rather than an FTV for two days now but each time i phone up i get an automated message saying the lines are too busy and to try again later. Disadvantages of being Blue I guess!

I believe is all still a FTV. I cancelled a booking last week and it had an asterisk underneath saying currently avios bookings cannot get e-vouchers. Maybe this will change going forward, but seems the norm at the moment that you won't get the e-voucher and the FTV is tied to the passenger.
