My BA39 LHR to PKX on 7 October has become the BA89 or vice versa, I can't tell which way. I spotted this today in the app (both showing). Being given a new flight number, does this mean a technical cancellation or not? I don't think that they have flown this route for a while and trying to book that route on that date shows no direct flights.

BA11 14 October cancelled - and no sign of the SIN entry restrictions easing up either

7th Oct - LHR to San Jose cancelled.
Now just need to wait for voucher scheme to be extended to cover Oct so we get use of the 241 voucher through to April 2022 rather than current expiry of April 2021.

Looks like it is down to 4x per week until the final week of October, I am booked on BA 11 on 28th October, I highly expect that to be cancelled at some point in the next few weeks.

MEX for Oct reduced to either 3 or 4 rotations a week. This was down from the 7 planned for summer season. .I'm not confident this will stick though.

SAN is scrubbed through Oct 24. For flights after that date, the late October/November schedule has now switched from 747 to 789 and the direct Sat and Tue departures going forward now shows only connecting itineraries. Previously, only the Dec departures though until the end of the Winter schedule had been updated with the 789 and those Sat/Tue still showed 747s. Those have now been removed from the schedule and again have been replaced by connecting itineraries.

BA89 is likely to be to PEK rather than PKX. Itís much easier for BA to use PEK for freight as the cargo infrastructure is much more mature around the older airport. The same thing happened when they moved the HND back to NRT when it was operating as a pure freighter.

The reason it has a different flight number is mainly for Chinese overflight permit reasons (BA89/88 used to be the CTU flight a few years ago). Since itís to the same city, I doubt it counts as a cancellation. Rather, a re-route. Please check if PEK really doesnít suit you though.

As far as I know the airports are 80 km apart! Of course In reality I would like it cancelled!
I know that it's some time away but I need to know exactly what's happening and surely a change like this should be advised.
Will that require a phone call?
