Welcome to Flyertalk and welcome to the BA forum ibblybibbly. That reply doesn't surprise me, and AGP priority check-in was never that reliable. The lounge, however, was very much part of the product so while BA will almost certainly stick to that position, in reality I suspect anyone who took this further, in terms of the Consumer Rights Act, would have strong lines of argument, in my view.

The lounge was indeed open yesterday to BA passengers.
The employee at check in was not sure of the status and did not mention the lounge during check in until I asked.
I have not visited previously so cannot compare the offering pre COVID but the options were reasonable and had to be requested. Staff escort you to a seat on arrival - you can choose where you want to sit though!
