Couple of GGL joker questions

How easy or difficult is it to do a "name change" for a passenger accompanying me on one of my joker redemptions?

Is it possible to add or cancel passengers on a joker redemption (subject to the maximum number) without giving up the entire booking and starting again?

How far in advance can I book a joker flight?

A big thank you in advance for any help.

1) no
2) add, no. Cancel, yes
3) same rule as always, 355 days before the flight

Thanks for the answers.

if it’s not a stupid question, what would stop me just cancelling the entire booking and then making a new one immediately afterwards? I suppose the risks are that the A class availability has vanished by the time I might want to do that (although cancelling space release flights MAY reopen it up) or that someone else plays a joker between me cancelling and rebooking, thereby blocking the use of mine.

Nothing other than the fact you are burning a second Joker.

Yes, you would get it back, as long as you're in the same membership year.

This isn’t a question about a joker. It’s about the underlying booking.

Is that definitely true? Despite being GGL for several years, I've never had to test it. I had actually assumed it wasn't true.

If you cancel, you get the joker back.

OK thanks for the clarification. As I said, I've never had to cancel one but useful to know.

You can change the booking as much as you like. add a return to a one way, change routing, remove people from the booking etc. Only thing you can't do is add someone...

And as mentioned, you'll get your joker back providing you're still within the year that Joker belongs to.

although I think if the joker has expired you wouldn’t. I think the way around that is to do a change instead.

This is true. As long as you keep changing the booking, the joker remains linked to the booking and valid for use. If I haven't used all my jokers by the end of the membership year, I just add them to a simple european/domestic booking for the number of passengers i need (usually 2) and then use them into the next year by changing the booking/routing meanwhile keeping the joker intact within the booking.
