List of Lounges Currently OPEN to BA Passengers (open wiki for details)

This wiki includes details of open lounges accessible to premium (F/J or Gold/Silver) passengers travelling on BA operated services, either within the terminal BA depart from or accessible via airside transfer.

Other lounges may be accessible for passengers willing to transfer landside to other terminals or concourses, although this is generally not recommended due to time constraints as a result of needing to re-clear security. Additionally, some airports may offer pay-in lounges which are not otherwise accessible by BA premium passengers (either temporarily or permanently).

Most open lounges are operating with a limited food and beverage service, and other services may be unavailable or modified.

For opening hours, please check the oneworld lounge listing at https://www.oneworld.com/airport-lounges?location= which is now being regularly updated.

If your airport isn't listed below, this probably means there is no lounge available for BA premium passengers (either temporarily or permanently) - please check the oneworld listing for the most up-to-date information.

Presumably not before 17 May which is the earliest that indoor hospitality can reopen (Step 3).

I'll not take it off topic further except to point you to this excellent guide by our own c-w-s: LHR Terminal 5 passageways - a pictorial guide for departing passengers

Now back to the more important matters of booze

Given airport lounges are covered by different rules (and actually are exempt from the current closure clause), my understanding was they could commence alcohol service again in April (post 12th I believe) when the take-away alcohol drinks rule is relaxed.

I know this is very much a personal opinion, but I have to say that I really didn’t care about the lack of real alcohol in the lounge.

This statement is coming from someone who would normally knock back 3-4 glasses of bubbles, 2-3 gin and tonics and maybe a couple of beers, after arriving in the lounge around 4 hours prior to departure.

I guess part of my opinion is related to just being elated and excited at finally being back on a long haul flight after 11+ months. Maybe I will be back to my normal ways once real alcohol is available hopefully mid May!

Overall, BA have definitely tried to make an effort for those travelling for essential journeys during these crazy times...they could have easily only offered water, tea/coffee, and basic soft drinks.

It is good to say that, but also realize that over the last 11 months of restrictions, many people have traveled on holiday and for family functions and a few of us business people too, and we have at various times enjoyed the full benefits of luxury travel in CW and F. We have enjoyed our Champagne and nice meals. And BA have at times taken good care of us, as have AF, LH, LX, etc. Some of us traveled a lot during the pandemic and we know when the airlines did what they were allowed to do and we know when certain governments prevented the service that we expect.

To be honest I probably did more holiday than usual last year - from March onwards we did a week in Jersey, a week in Cornwall, a week in Crete and 17 nights in the Middle East! There was also the ski trip we just managed to sneak in last Feb.

Whilst I agree with Mits10 about the lounge provision at LHR, I would also note BA have not re-opened any of their other lounges yet, and have been actively withdrawing lounge provisions at some destinations where provided by third party lounges which are open.

I wondering if alcohol will be allowed in lounges again after April 12 as that’s when pubs can offer takeaway alcohol again in the UK.

It will be intersting, I know as EDI is my local airport. It had a big BA Lounge but there were many flights to LCY, LGW and LHR a day with a large proportion of passengers being Silver and Gold.

However on the otherwise, Big lounge to hear, Normally about 10 staff including reception. Could it be outsourced to say No1 who QR use?

With a hat-tip to the crystal ball phenomenon, I suspect the alcohol ban in lounges will be lifted once we are finally released from the current lockdown. If restaurants are allowed to serve alcohol, it only stands to reason that airport lounges will also be allowed to serve alcohol.

We are officially released from lockdown when the stay at home order ends on 29 March but restaurants then as they are now can do takeaway food but no alcohol.

Pubs opening 12 April outside is when takeaway alcohol resumes in the UK and restaurants are allowed to serve alcohol on their reopening in May.

Fingers crossed it’s April.

At the earliest. These dates are not set in stone, the dates are conditional.

I would have to think that outsourcing at EDI would be impractical, due to the reasons you alluded to above. It's a large lounge, with the highest volume of flights in the UK by far outside London. In due course, perhaps NCL may outsource eventually, but I would lean towards the opinion that all the other regional UK lounges will be reopened eventually, with EDI being top of that list when the time is right.

Return of alcohol in T5 lounges?

Hi,

Do we know when alcohol will return to the BA lounges at T5?

Will it be April 12th? May 17th?

Thanks in advance,
