List of Lounges Currently OPEN to BA Passengers (open wiki for details)

This wiki includes details of open lounges accessible to premium (F/J or Gold/Silver) passengers travelling on BA operated services, either within the terminal BA depart from or accessible via airside transfer.

Other lounges may be accessible for passengers willing to transfer landside to other terminals or concourses, although this is generally not recommended due to time constraints as a result of needing to re-clear security. Additionally, some airports may offer pay-in lounges which are not otherwise accessible by BA premium passengers (either temporarily or permanently).

Most open lounges are operating with a limited food and beverage service, and other services may be unavailable or modified.

For opening hours, please check the oneworld lounge listing at https://www.oneworld.com/airport-lounges?location= which is now being regularly updated.

If your airport isn't listed below, this probably means there is no lounge available for BA premium passengers (either temporarily or permanently) - please check the oneworld listing for the most up-to-date information.

My experience of the Wetherspoons app is mixed. And at least their IT normally works. BA??

Generally knocking together an app for this purpose at short notice could be problematic and I'm sure that the hospitality industry as a whole (excluding Wetherspoons and a few others) are wrestling with these ideas at the moment.
a hilarious idea to think that BA could "cobble together" any technical piece of software that would be fully operational, ...ever.

Yeah, but they wouldn't have to develop anything - pretty sure this could be bought off the shelf. And it doesn't have to interact with any existing systems, it can be completely stand alone?

which all presumes every passenger has a smart phone, the app is downloaded and works on that, and, the app is available in several languages. And then BA IT works.

Hard to see that the reverse Midas touch of BA won’t apply yet again.

seriously how many people have you seen in the lounge who doesn’t have a smart phone?? There is also free WiFi to download the app in the lounge.

it’s not difficult technology and technically they only have to offer in English - same as the current printed menus

1. Is no different to now, people can order and leave before it arrives
2. see 1
3. not rocket science to fix

pretty sure the tech can be bought off the shelf (see Wetherspoons). As someone up thread AA are doing it and it works - I’m sure BA could use their tech as a OW/JV partner?

People here just seem determined to find reasons why this can’t work 🙄

I haven’t seen AA as having used an app to order food in their lounges, only to access the menu using a QR code. I am under the impression, but have not yet had direct experience either way, that you still order from a person (e.g., a waiter). Happy for somebody to chime in with alternative experiences, as I would love an app instead: I’ve seen it work at a local bakery that uses a webpage to order and then you go collect when it is time (but presumably could be delivered to you if in a restaurant).

well i think its more "how many people have you seen who dont REALIZE they have a smart phone" given the number of DYKWIA phone calls that happen, you'd think they were using string and two tin cans to transact that VERY important business call!

Would it be BA who need to manage a catering order app deployment, or BaxterStorey, who are after all in the catering business, who run the lounge, and probably have plenty of experience in this area. Sure, it will require a BA logo slapping on the user interface, meal options setting up, and BA probably ponying up for BaxterStorey costs for the app (at a guess per table per month), but other than that BA probably just need to ask BaxterStorey to sort it out.

BA's biggest decision will be which bit of the catering offering to cut to cover the charge for the app.

Good point. My bet would be on the food and drink.

There may come a point (due to limited no people being allowed in the lounges) when lounges will be full if/when :

1) AA (maybe other One World Airlines) move to T5
2) BA LGW flights move to LHR.

If you want to work out how lounges can now operate, HMG released new guidance a few hours ago:

https://assets.publishing.service.go...ays-230620.pdf

Look at the checklist from page 12 onwards, particularly 14 and 15, to get a clue, but among other things, the queuing process used in KLM and Aspire Zurich doesn't seem to me to be acceptable. An App may well be (and yes, BS do already have Apps being used for their other locations). BA and BS will only be reading this today, so presumably they may have adjust their plans somewhat.

Outdoor table service should also be encouraged, although customers are permitted to stand outside if distanced appropriately. Where bar or counter service is unavoidable, preventing customers from remaining at the bar or counter after ordering.
  • Adjusting processes to prevent customers from congregating at points of service. For example, having only staff collect and return empty glasses to the bar.
  • Minimising contact between kitchen workers and front of house workers. For example, by having zones from which front of house staff can collect food.
  • Encouraging use of outdoor areas for service where possible. For example, increasing outdoor seating or outdoor points of service such as stalls
