Assuming next week's LHR-ACE goes ahead, I think I'll be bringing something tasty to go with the bubbly.
Chance would be a fine thing

I appreciate that these are difficult times for many, but there must be something better than beetroot in a vegi sarnie.

Just flew on my first domestic flight since the new catering came in - Club Europe only had the dreaded vegetarian carrot and beetroot sandwiches loaded - the purser knew how unpopular they are and was apologising profusely for no chicken sandwiches being loaded, almost embarrassed to be offering carrot and beetroot. Out of 13 passengers in Club Europe, only one took the sandwich, and I saw him take one bite then leave it. We got offered crisps and biscuits instead (not sure where they came from , maybe the crew lunch, or the economy trolley?) Quite a poor offering really. At least I managed to get 3x cans of Speedbird beer.

In South Korea spam fried rice is a premium product. During lockdown my sister in law stocked up with spam, just in case of shortages. Some people would view spam as an upgrade on the pre covid BA offerings.

There's a Filipino fast-food chain called Jollibee (I've been to the one in Milan and in one in Abu Dhabi) that does a spam burger that is the food equivalent of crack.

Having just returned from MAD last night, whilst it was a reduced service I had a good experience.

No ice or lemon for drinks, but I survived on Malbec and Bloody Mary’s.

Meal choice was either chicken and coleslaw sandwich or beetroot and carrot. I opted for the chicken. Nicely presented in a deli box. Adequate for the time of day.

Crew attentive and welcoming. Social distancing procedures taken very seriously. All in all, a good experience.

I’m just wondering about the difference between Club Europe and economy on domestic flights at the moment.

Am I right that all passengers get the same paper bag containing a sandwich (not the box, which is for longer routes)?

CE does get alcoholic drinks. Is tea/coffee available in both classes?

Not quite, but it's easy to explain for LHR:
CE - all routes - same as the box in the post above (and elsewhere in this thread), however on Band 1 (domestic and immediately proximate overseas airports such as AMS) it's in a bag and there is no mini salad. Full bar service, pretty much as last year, but no ice or lemon. Tea, coffee and specialist tea available too.
ET - all routes - a clear plastic bag with water bottle, crisps and biscuits (or something similar). Trolley service of more water, juice, tea, coffee. No alcohol.

LCY is somewhat different, being catered by Newrest rather than Do&Co, but it's the same principles.

CE gets a brown bag with a sandwich and desert, see this post for an example https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/32508030-post349.html

ET gets a clear bag with a small bottle of water, crisps, and a chocolate bar, this isn't the same as the brown bag.

Flying out of LGW To Barbados on 28/10. Should I still expect a box? And presumably Do&Co aren’t at Gatwick?

End of October? That's too far away to be able to predict what catering will be like then. Also your class of travel will help any predictions made nearer the time.

To be honest, I think that your main question ought to be whether you should expect a flight! If you get one, you'll eat what they give you and be happy

I'm now not expecting any of my flights in the next 5 months to take place as planned apart from an essential to lax end September.

Biggest decision I have at the moment, is deciding what my first flight since end Feb - it's between GLA or NCL, from LHR.

Back On topic, on the positive side for my GLA or NCL dilemma, I still think the band 1 and 2 offering is better than before. I'm a positive chap.

Box or bag, I'm not fussed.

Is there any indication of when the current club Europe offering will return to “normal”?

I’ve flights booked to Italy (DUB-LHR-BLQ PMO-LHR-DUB) in August and the lounge in DUB is closed & I think the one in PMO too so onboard food now has more significance. I hate mayonnaise (and it’s equivalents) so the thought of 4 sandwiches fills me with dread. Egg mayo, coronation chicken, ham salad etc etc 🤢
