I decided it would have been rude to point that out to you since you had previously said May. But yes, the logic still applies. As Ross said above, those in the April to June period to some degree benefit the most from this.

Are we really sure about this? If it is the case I'll will be happy as my year end is November and I too am chasing GGL. I already have 3000TP.

I'm hearing lots of conflicting information.

But you do get an extra year as Silver and reduced threshold to Gold, so if you get Gold "soon" you still benefit.

How else would you choose to interpret the following?:
"If you are eligible for a Tier upgrade under the reduced Tier Point or eligible flight requirement, there is no need to contact us. This will be processed automatically once the required number of Tier Points or flights have been credited to your account."

Congrats to all the winners in this lottery. Genuinely pleased for you.

Sadly, like others have already noted, as an 8 July 2020 year end, and having already retained GGL this year, I fall into the big loser category. I confirmed with GGL that already requalifying for GGL makes the extension irrelevant.

To add to my pain, my 25% reduction to requalify TP year starts shortly, on 9 July 2020. With so many routes not available and borders remaining closed, eg Australia, South Africa, I can’t see any way I can earn sufficient TPs by 8 July 2021 to renew GGL, even with a 25% reduction, so that would be a drop to silver, except I do have LT Gold.

Can’t help feeling let down in this situation as an 8 June year end with GGL achieved would mean GGL status until 8 June 2022 with the extension, and then 9 June 2021 until 8 June 2022 to earn 75% to requalify.

For members renewing status with sufficient reduced TPs in the last three months (Apr-June), that was definitely the sweet spot.

Disappointing to say goodbye to retaining GGL next year, after 5 years, but far more serious things to worry about in the world than a GGL card.

Yeah I get that, does that mean the reduction applies to your current year as well as the next year?

I am in a similar situation to Jonny.

There is a mix of 'current' vs 'following' opinions here. The wording above works just fine assuming it's the following year, so to me, it does not state that it will apply to the current.

I have since sent a message, and I would assume at the very least it applies to the current. However, the logic, in that Apr > Jun getting 30% and everyone else in the same equiv year getting less of a reduction, with less time to fly is moronic.

It must apply to the current year or there is no point saying it, is there? And if your new year starts soon, ditto. Moreover the question above is "How do I benefit from the reduced Tier Point requirement to upgrade or renew my membership?" which speaks to your question - yoi wish to upgrade your membership.

I think the problem with all these wordings can be simplified if people separate the (potentially) two aspects - renewal (extra year) and upgrading (lower thresholds). If you do that then the logic seems clear to me.

I don’t see how the expect us to take any Ba flights seeing how the US royally pissed it’s response to CV, even until 2021.

What makes this even more illogical, if I decide to be reckless and go on a tier point run before my TP year ends in 2020, it’s fine. But if I need to fly after my TP year ends, I’m SOL.

We are in a pandemic, after all. I think people here forget that.

You're lucky. I am on 3,025 tier points,
July 8th tier point year-end.
Last flight 11th March, none since.
Missed out on GGL this year, and would have easily achieved at the run rate.
Next year looks bleak.
It sucks. Oh well.

I'm not sure what it means for those with an April reset date?!?

I was gold, but didn't have enough TP's on April 8th 2020, so dropped to Silver on 1st June 2020 (only 11 days ago!) I assume that I'm not going to get a 12m extension of gold applied from this? If I do nothing I thought I'd get a 12 month extension at silver applied on 8th April 2021, giving silver status until 31st May 2022? However, my account expiry still shows May 2021.

If I got back to gold (assume by earning 1125 TP's) before 8th April 2021, how long would that apply for?

As one of the FT members on the other forum advocating for an extension, I need to give BA credit for their action. I am quite pleased with the extension and 25% TP threshold reductions. I look forward to more travel after things calm down and travel is less restricted.

I also look forward to clarifying the TP collection year reductions. The email/website seem to imply that they might apply the lower TP levels for upgrades which would make sense for the current TP collection year for those who are aiming for the next level(s) in the next 12 months.

"This is the same for upgrades thresholds too, making that next Tier more achievable."

For example, it seems odd to require a Bronze flyer to reach 600 TP for Silver in 20-21 (with severe travel limitations) but 450 in 21-22 (with much less restrictions, hopefully!).

Two scenarios (I think):
July 20-Jun 21: 25% reductions for upgrades for 20-21, already granted requalifications for 21-22 at Year End level, Requalification/upgrade level for 21-22 reduced by 25%
July 20-Jun 21: No reductions for upgrades for 20-21, already granted requalifications for 21-22 at Year End level, Requalification/upgrade level for 21-22 reduced by 25%

Your Silver status is protected until April 8, 2022. You got an additional year of Silver rather than an additional year of Gold because you didn't meet the satisfying amount of TP's for the reduced April 2020 threshold.

If you get back to Gold ( 1500 TP ) until April 8, 2021; your Gold status would be valid until May 31, 2022.
If you get back to Gold ( 1125 TP from 9/4/21-8/4/22 ) from April 9, 2021, until April 8, 2022; your Gold status would be valid until May 31, 2023.
