Whereas the wording around the reduced tier point thresholds for the June date was very ambiguous, I do notice that the new wording is much more explicit - that it refers to when the TP collection year ends.
The way this reads, those January resets about to start their next year in Jan 22 - will need to the full 300/600/1500 tier points.
The way this reads, those January resets about to start their next year in Jan 22 - will need to the full 300/600/1500 tier points.
- someone with a June reset will need to earn the lower TPs from 8 June 2022 to 7 June 2023 (not lower TPs from 8 June 2022 to 31 Dec 2022 followed by higher TPs from 1 Jan 2023 to 7 June 2023)
- someone with a Jan reset will need the higher TPs from 8 Jan 2023

Based upon the newer wording, I'm not convinced about that - at least how it's phrased today. It reads as if orbitmic will need the full TPs for the year Jul 22/23. The previous wording for June was ambiguous, but this time it seems clearer that it only applies to year ends to Dec 22
However, I don't think this is the end of it. Totally agree with the rest of the your response about BA needing an exit strategy. This does feel like another kick-the-can-down-the-road exercise.

That's what I initially thought too. But seems you have until 7 June 2023 to do that - based on their FAQ wordings.

I'm with you on this. I am a 8 Feb year end so was in the last round of extensions and my TP expiry date in BAEC already shows as 8 Feb 2023 with a Silver card valid until 31 Mar 2023. The way I read it is that the old TP thresholds apply ie I need 600TP in my year to 8 Feb 2023 in order to retain Silver for the year 9 Jan 2023 to 8 Jan 2024.

Yes this is correct. Tier point collection years have never been extended - but there is no reason for you to worry about collecting TPs in your current year if you are happy just to maintain your current status.

I have the April renewal date, too! In November, I booked a trip all the way to Finland in Jan. 2022 (LAX-MIA-HEL-JFK-LAX all on BA code-shared flights) to ensure that I could get all my qualified BA flights and the remaining tier points I need for next year. With this new extension, it is certainly a great news and I will more than likely cancel our trip to Finland. With the highly contagious Omnicron variant, why take the unnecessary risk even though we are both fully vaccinated and boosted. We are just going to take the voucher for future use!
Thank you BA!

Which would basically mean that from today everyone would have one year beyond their renewal date on the reduced threshhold, which if true why not just say that
Course it is opinion and we have pages of discussion on it already in this thread. All that has changed today is the dates mentioned in an already existing FAQ,nothing else.

One interpretation (which I favour) is that, if I fly between Nov. 8 and Dec. 31, 2022, I need only 450 TP to retain Silyer through Dec. 31, 2024 since this counts for my 2023 TP collection year.
The other interpretation is that this is really considered part of my 2023 TP collection year, so back to 600.
From the disucssion, I take it that this is the point under debate and it is not clear which interpretaton holds?
Cheers.
