I just called, primarily to ask about the expiry on my two FTVs as they are worth about £8k. But I also asked about extension. No news yet, but she felt that everything was still being reviewed.

So no further forward for me.

Well, of course... the first rule in all of this is that the first two to ask will get inconsistent answers

I think I will wait a week or so to see if there are any more consistent updates - much as I am very tempted to email BAEC

Let's say $4k a month, so that's what circa £3k or thereabouts. And further let's say our passenger is organically earning, so that £3k represents one longhaul J return each month or 280 TP. That seems reasonable I think.

So after 12 months they've earned 3360 TP. Unfortunately they lost GGL so they need 5000. No GGL for them.... I'm afraid I don't share your confidence that they would get it back 'very soon'.
Yep that's about right. For J longhaul fliers who are not TP-running, that's pretty much how the math looks.

A reminder that the renewal of GGL is 2250 TP's rather than the usual 3000 TP's.
If someone ends their year at 3360TP's, that person wouldn't get CCR for the next period but he would remain GGL for the next requalification period ( Starting at July 2021-June 2022 )

A quick question - I have had a look at the forum to see if it has been answered previously. I am in the relatively fortunate position of having a 8 June year end. Does that mean that for the year finishing 8/6/2022 the points required to reach GGL is reduced by 25% from 5,000 to 3,750? Any assistance gratefully received.

Yes, that's correct.

As you note, June members tend to do the best out of this scheme. You will enjoy the 25% reduction in your collection year 9/6/2021 through 8/6/2022 inclusive. So if you were looking to reach GGL/CCR (rather than retain an existing GGL status) that will indeed require 3750 during that period.

Hi All,

So apologies, I am not very good at searching threads for answers.

I have an 8th Set renewal.

Last year (ending 8th Sept 2020) I obtained Gold (from Bronze) due to the reduce thresholds. I was fortunate enough to receive the 2 year membership card (so Gold lasting until 31st Oct 2022).

Ive rolled into this year with circa 1300/1400 TP, of which the majority will / have been cancelled already. Not a problem, I am under no pressure to earn this year.

My requirement is still reduced, 1125 to maintain Gold.

Come 9th Sept 2021 (so DAY1 of next year, everything will reset to zero) this is the year to earn TP to maintain Gold, will I have the 1125 target, or 1500 TP target?

I have 1225 TP booked already for this period (well Sept 2021 - Dec 2021) and I need to understand what my short haul strategy will be for the rest of the year (ie do I need to earn points or not).

Many thanks All.

Unless there is a further update from BA, you would need 1500TP's to maintain Gold during your 9 September 2021- 8 September 2022 period to extend the validity of your BA Gold status until 31 October 2023.

You'll need 1500TP under the policy as it stands at the moment.

As a Sept renewal, your two periods of reduced target are (dd/mm/yy)

9/9/2019 -> 8/9/2020 <- You didn't need this one, because you were already working your way up the tiers
9/9/2020 -> 8/9/2021 <- You won't need this one, because since you stepped up a level rather than maintaining it, the way the system works means you got an extension.

So as you can see, and as ISTFlyer has commented, from 9/9/2021 you are back to 1500 needed, at least as things stand. Future changes to policy are of course possible.

Thank you, as I feared but not the end of the world.

As long as I can do my mini TP run in Oct (SOF) and my HKG (Qatar Ex EU) trip Im fine.

Speculation, I know, but what are the chances of everyone getting another one year extension? Even if the vaccine rollout is successful in the UK, I can't see business travel resuming until the autumn now. Perhaps most significantly of all, President Biden is not going to allow transatlantic travel to resume any time soon.

I doubt BA will be the first to blink, but I agree that 2021 travel might not be much better than 2020 (and even if it is, it won't be until late Q3/Q4) and if I had to guess I'd say other airlines almost certainly will and if that happens it'd be a tactical misstep for BA not to offer at least what the competition are.
