I am not sure if it applies for the UK but the new 40% usage decision of the EU would lead us to major schedule changes for the summer season.

ICN Avios booking moved to QR?

Happy with my ICN dates in June, purchased with Avios and a 2-4-1 voucher during the 50% off Avios sale. Has anyone had any luck getting BA to reroute on to QR? There arent any BA codeshares loaded for DOH - ICN.

In general, BA does not allow rebooking on other airlines if it's an Avios ticket.
They would only rebook you to QR if there is Avios award availability for your selected dates.

I posted in the (now locked) thread about cancellation emails going out to those travelling to MLE from 08/01-01/02. Just in case anyone in worrying..

BA contact has now said these emails were sent out as an 'Operational Error' and the flights continue as scheduled.

However... Wouldn't be overly confident.

BA are using Malaysian Airlines for this route.

I decided to get a refund, as the product isn't great and its a long way around.

I had an email from the hotel I'm staying at from 01/02/21, informing me of BA's cancellation of the LHR-MLE flights for those dates, asking me to confirm my plan to travel. I called the GGL line who have no information of any cancellations of flights to MLE, although he stressed these were unusual times, and things could "most likely" change.

‘Following the recent news that United plans to suspend its San Francisco-London Heathrow flights in early January, an SFO spokesperson now tells us that British Airways is going to do the same. “We can confirm the suspension of BA flights between SFO and LHR from January to mid-March,” he said.’

I've booked exactly the same ticket (LHR --> ICN using 2-4-1 voucher in the 50% Avios sale, for end of May departure). This week I plan to call BA to see what they can offer. Let me know if you work something out in the mean time.

I saw this also, but see 284 and 285 flying daily in February in EF. What's going on?

More interesting (to me anyways) is the second part of the quote from the article:

Please note that this suspension was planned prior to the current emerging (COVID) strain in the U.K., not as a reaction to it.

That article is just from today (26 Dec.). Takes a while for changes to be reflected in reservation systems, and they'll probably finish January before getting around to February so those travelers can be taken care of first since their travel is more imminent.

Well phooey... I just switched a late Dec / early Jan trip to mid March. Hopefully the return sticks, but I think I'll be rerouted on the outbound... what's the deal with rerouting? How much choice do I get?

I have my doubts about this cancellation, there's too much fish involved. But the best thing is to research the alternatives yourself and suggest it to the agent. Agents use Pegasus which is probably on MS-DOS 2.11 and isn't great at connections in particular. MMB may also have a proposal after a day or two. Don't rush! And be wary of maybe bookings.....

Thank you for your sage counsel. I won't rush to do anything, and I'll have some routings in mind if the outbound goes down the toilet (and the return for that matter) just in case.
