Even in normal years, any aircraft type shown in next winters timetable is an educated guess. The winter timetable aircraft is normally firmed up the first week of july, with some tweaking continuing right up to season start. and thats a normal year

I imagine it's not just lack of demand that has done for these routes (but that's obviously a huge factor), it's also that BA will need the 787s for use on more important routes which can probably support a down-gauged 787 profitably in the near term but can't support, say, a 777-300 anymore until travel substantially recovers. Maximising usage / load factors on the 787s will be fairly crucial to minimising BA's losses in the recovery period.
I am not surprised at all by ICN being dropped as it always seemed pretty marginal, it started with a four class 777 and quickly got down-gauged to allow it to survive. There are also two other direct carriers on the route (until they merge) who are both unlikely to drop LHR from their network as a flagship route, as well as a general preference amongst the Koreans flying the route to take one of those two carriers over BA, so the competition is pretty strong for what are not huge passenger volumes. I could see KUL being a candidate for down-gauging to a 787-8 instead of dropping entirely in different times, but it seems BA has reasoned the limited 787-8s are better deployed elsewhere. The fact that almost all of the dropped destinations in Asia have taken the approach of varying degrees of hermetically sealed border with no stated end in sight doesn't help the case to keep those routes on the schedule, either.

Bizarre. I simply asked the guy to move the destination to SIN. He checked the distances, said it was fine, swapped the flights and I was off the phone in under 5 minutes.
I would definitely try again. You may have already said upthread somewhere but which class are you travelling in?

KUL now cancelled after March 2021 and doubtful will be open before route finishes. Asked to be moved to SIN in June 2021 on flights showing Avios availability - still would not move me -(
To hold my 50% off and 2-4-1 voucher pushed booking to late March in the hope BA will cancel again.

If so I guess they're not willing to change both destination and date.

after a total of over 4 hours on hold I got through to a very helpful guy at EC.
So my KUL return flight cancelled by BA booking 2-4-1 50% Avios sale:
could not be moved to another one world carrier
could not be moved to SIN
Must be to KUL as destination before end of June 2021
i queried all of these statements but a supervisor confirmed
So moved to latest flight with Avios availability in the hope BA become a bit more lenient at some point before my new departure date

Seems like BA have reached an agreement with Malaysia Airlines.

“You’ll notice a few changes on your upcoming trip to Kuala Lumpur on 02 January 2020. From wearing face masks to Perspex screens at the airport, things may feel a little different at each step. However, it’s all to protect you on the ground and in the air.”
I certainly will. My flight was from KUL-LHR and BA cancelled it over a month ago

Have a look at the news then get back to me. Heathrow is in Tier 4, the highest risk. All non essential local traffic out of London is now illegal. UK connections will be down to one daily flight each to the domestics, not even close to the beginnings of making a dent in filling long haul while London is closed to travel.
