Also good advice. AS is typically 2-3x daily YYC-SEA, so fewer options than WS YYC-YVR (typically more like 15x daily), but as far as travel time goes, pretty similar to YVR, and definitely superior to DFW, ORD, YYZ, or YUL.

Just had my BKK flight cancelled in March. To be honest I was pleased as I don’t think there is any chance of Thailand opening up to normal tourism so soon. Had booked using avios 2 for 1 in their half price sale. Was delighted to see I could change the flight online to November ( still not sure if it will be ok to travel but better odds) no increase in avios into BK in CW and returning from SIN in F.

clearing US CBP with the queues and connection risk.
Going through airport security queue at Seattle
then, queue again for Canadian immigration.
sounds like a very stressful way to make (or possibly miss) a connection

No, because the Qatar JB has always included a minimum service level by both carriers. That’s why even in better times the DOH flight ran with incredibly low loads. It fits with QR’s narrative of ’joint’ rather than ‘takeover’.

I've put the rebooking guidelines for the longhaul cancellations in the main Rebook thread, in post 4992.

So my KUL return flight cancelled by BA booking 2-4-1 50% Avios sale:
could not be moved to another one world carrier
could not be moved to SIN
Must be to KUL as destination before end of June 2021
i queried all of these statements but a supervisor confirmed
So moved to latest flight with Avios availability in the hope BA become a bit more lenient at some point before my new departure date

No it’s not, it’s standard practice and happens every time a route is cancelled. And if you actually think about it, entirely reasonable it does too. They can’t announce to a competitor that they're pulling out of a route before it’s announced publicly. But the standard IATA disruption rebooking regs only cover cancellations close to departure. So once the announcement is made, rev man quickly get in touch with counterparts at other airlines to ask for help in rebooking, and agree rates/terms if they don’t already exist (some airlines have standing terms, others do it ad hoc). This takes a couple of days, especially given time zone differences, after which it’s released to the call centres and travel agents as a rebooking guideline. It also explains why there’s often multiple iterations of guidelines as additional airlines are added. So the usual advice of not panicking and waiting a few days for things to settle down (unless travel is imminent) very much applies.

I make it twice a week - Wed & Sat!
But I was told yesterday that Seychelles only attracted 25,000 Brits in 2019. That's basically both BA flights full on the basis that all UK Passport holders originate from UK, and don't fly on any other carriers. Very marginal, even if there is a small increase this year. Chatting to a luxury tour operator (who quoted the stats) they are selling 70% Maldives, 29% Caribbean and 1% elsewhere - and said losing Seychelles is really no great loss. Of course, to some individuals it will be, but not in the greater scope of things.

after a total of over 4 hours on hold I got through to a very helpful guy at EC.

It feels like they are just making it up as they go along.
1st call, options = reroute with QR; BA to SIN; Refund
2nd call, options = BA to SIN; refund (no reroute with QR or any other airline)
3rd call, option = FTV (literally that was the only option, not even a refund).
This is on the Youfirst line. You'd think they'd have better trained staff surely?

They have been coming out with so much random BS it's ridiculous.

might be useful for a Canadian resident US citizen, but for anyone else that means:
clearing US CBP with the queues and connection risk.
Going through airport security queue at Seattle
then, queue again for Canadian immigration.
sounds like a very stressful way to make (or possibly miss) a connection
