Are any of BAs flights rammed
 

Was watching the news report re Aer Lingus yesterday on the BBC and there was one comment that some of BAs domestics are equally busy as this EI flight from BHD.

Do we have any information on this?

BA are still running EDI GLA and MAN are they not?

BA flights are running around one third to a half full, and some flights have only a handful of passengers. GIB and BHD seem to be the more full flights.

BA departures today are to BCN, AMS, CDG, EDI, LAX, BHD, IAD, BOS, GIB, ORD, JFK and IOM.

In terms of flights to countries where UK citizens are currently barred from entry (i.e. BOS/JFK in USA), who is flying? US citizens only?

Some people also have special permissions to fly. A couple of examples I know of are UK military personal enbedded with US forces and certain contractors with highly specialist skills working on critical projects

Less than three hours to today’s LHRJFK, and ExpertFlyer shows 28 seats filled... that could still change a bit, but very obviously lightly loaded.

I’ve experienced Lufthansa recently with middle seats filled. And frankly so what? It’s impossible to physically distance when the person behind or in front of you is 31’’ away. It’s just show. Equally impossible to 1m distance when disembarking.

as for the Aer Lingus whiner in my view that person should take some adult responsibility for themselves.

If to them the perceived risk of flying was too much and it matters so much then they should not do it - ie don’t fly.

Perhaps it’s too much to expect adults to take self responsibility - and don’t do it then moan away afterwards instead.

I can pretty much guarantee that not every passenger on that flight was making an “essential” journey, that not everyone turned up with masks, hand sanitizer etc, and that no one was forced onto the plane against their will.

If you’re not happy how an airline is managing your health, don’t fly with them. Very simple

Sometimes people need reminded that its not only their lives that they, are risking, but the other people they might infect and kill.

That is always a possibility. I would hope that the most vulnerable groups remain shielded and that everyone takes all the precautions necessary. Travel is going to be a real problem. I am an NHS doctor, so have been travelling to/from work. When normal life returns, traffic becomes worse and hospital parking unavailable to clinical staff again I will have to return to public transport. How social distancing might work while keeping pace with demand is going to be very difficult. There will come a point where that is not possible.

Agreed you could argue its not the airlines responsibility to enforce safety but should be government restrictions placed on air transport

What I am struggling to understand is, if the virus is so deadly, why are airlines still flying? You can take domestic flights here in the US....you can fly with BA to a handful of places. Yet there is an outbreak of a killer virus? Surly stop all travel for a period of time?

Before people jump on me and say I'm this and that, yes I have seen first hand effects of it. My mum's friend passed two weeks ago as a result. She is still very upset.

I travelled up to EDI from LHR on Sunday. Flight was just over half full. (I’m classed as an essential worker and was travelling at the behest of my employer).

Some were wearing face masks, some were not.

Some travel, including air travel, is realistically essential. If you want access to electricity, water, gas, petrol, diesel, food, medicines, the internet, someone out there has to make it happen. I haven't been interogating other travellers (in the USA they tell you anyway!) but my judgement is that travellers by and large have very good reason to travel.
