Reason for differences in the surcharge amount shown on BA.com

Swing of around $40 per ticket depending on when book and wondering why if unrelated to fuel charges.

Oh and you could look at the detailed fare breakdown to identify which individual element is changing and you'd get yourself an accurate answer.

That is unusual. Surcharges are normally charged by date of sale and departure. I'm surprised a different return date is affecting it.

Thanks for the breakdown.

Heathrow charges different passenger services charges depending on the month of travel - See Schedule 5 para 2

https://www.heathrow.com/content/dam...f-Use-2020.pdf

Your thread shows the importance of using the right terminology and looking into the make up of the fare as not all differences are due to the carrier surcharge. The title says ‘surcharge’ and in your first post you wonder if it is due to fuel but the actual reason Is a difference in the airport passenger service fees.
