I work for a French-headquartered company and here in the UK office we are very used to being left alone to get on with things uninterrupted over the summer. I am not sure I can cope if they don't get to go on les vacances...

For those who speak French, here is the interview:
https://www.rtl.fr/actu/politique/co...peu-7800421125
The word that got left off the press reports is "quasiment" (nearly). If you listen to the interview around 2 minute 4 seconds, Mme Borne said that Air France has returned most stranded French passengers and therefore AF flights outside Schengen are nearly all stopped (which isn't news). She then turned to the 11 May lockdown decision point, referenced the President's statement and used the phrase "en dehors d'Europe" rather than Schengen, again that's not news. The rest of the interview is interesting, talking about masks, social distancing (there was a photo of an Air France flight which had every seat taken) and whether the French can expect to enjoy their main summer holidays or not, where in summary the minister's advice was "de patienter un petit peu"".

This morning I received the cancellation email for our trip to SJC in May. About five mins on hold before I spoke to an agent at about 1030. The booking had been UUA'd so whilst the Avios should come back immediately I was warned that the lengthy manual refund queue would probably see me waiting two weeks before the money was returned.
This was the first cancelled booking for which I wanted a refund so I wasn't sure whether I'd be pushed to take the voucher instead but it wasn't mentioned.

I had originally booked Club class and then through the online BA offer upgraded to First. The upgrade for 2 people was £1387.30. The lady at BA is now trying to tell me that £600 of this £1387.30 was a PENALTY (her words) for the change and unlikely to be refunded!! Anyone heard of this before? - I am flabbergasted.

So I got through to BA last night to ask for refund (I paid £4500) BUT:

You can easily find out how much your refund will be without contacting BA: it's whatever you paid, it's a full refund as per EC261. So just go to the e-ticket in your inbox, and add in any extras you paid for seating, POUGs or extra baggage. For rebooking, you can move by 2 weeks so long as there is space in the cabin. You can move it to any time within a year of original ticketing if you can find dates with the same fare bucket. A cash refund gives you the most flexibility, so in the absence of other better solutions that is the sensible way for you. In which case just call up (e.g. tomorrow very early) and get the refund. The only reason for doing the rebooking option would be if you felt or knew that fares were going to rise more than what you originally paid.

No, it's not, that changes my reply somewhat since I had assumed you had not flown the outbound. You can only have an involuntary fare refund or a rebooking, the involuntary fare refund is difficult to work out without specialist staff, but you can perhaps assume a 40% refund, it could be more or less than that, depending on the specific details, but I'd be surprised if Twitter can give you an answer on that, it usually takes weeks to compute. Generally speaking - and again the specifics matter - it would be best to rebook if you plan to travel since it is unlikely that a single ticket would be available for the involuntary refund.

Got the email cancellation for the EZE-LHR flight on May 17th and rebooked to leave in June free of charge, all on MMB which was great. I paid to reserve a seat on the original, cancelled flight. After rebooking, given the same seat was (and is) still available, I thought the seat payment and details would automatically be transferred to the new flight (same aircraft type and config).
It appears this is not the case, and I am being invited in MMB once again to select (and pay) for the same seat. Will I have to call to get this sorted ?

Just had flight on 20 May changed again. Looks like only one per day to CDG now.
And JFK appears to be one per day on 24 May
