BA could copy what Virgin have done and have all flights operating out of LHR and shutter ops at LGW.

Yes I was thinking this, I'm surprised they haven't done it already.

1400-2200! That explains the lack of JER/LGW rotations during the day today!

Except poor UncleT will be in deepest isolation and thus unable to partake.

😱

Are you saying the Gatwick routes are on their way to Heathrow!!! Well never could we have imagined that JER would go to LHR this year (albeit for a month or two).

I think I what is more likely is the route gets pulled entirely. There is a flight on Monday but after that.....?

Now confirmed by Jersey Airport:

Due to the current situation BA Jersey/Gatwick services will be suspended as from Tuesday 31 March until end of April. Passengers due to travel during this period should contact the airline directly for alternative options.
So it seems BA is suspending all Gatwick operations from the end of the month.

If or when LGW operations shut down, the deeper and very stark this all becomes. I honestly cannot see how we will get back to Ďnormalí before summer holidays. It really hits home and proves how bleak this can get.

Can anyone tell me a time when Gatwick closed for a considerable time?

I do worry now about how long it will take to recover. I donít think we will see any sizeable BA Gatwick operations for a long while yet and maybe some routes will never return to BAs network. Itís a shame as over the last few years BA was really growing at Gatwick again.

Whatever happens, the new normal will be different from the old normal.
