Oh yes krispy84 Lola the Spaniel inhaled that dish soon after photoshoot.
Now, I am at pains to explain that I would never suggest BA slip dog food into a vegan special meal. No, I am only suggesting that the vegan meal might look like dog food.

so apologies in advance, but I thought I would share my AC meal in a similar challenge. Having written it, I realised I could have replaced AC with BA and my aunty and uncle with nieces and nephews. You get the gist, and it would have been cheating to pass it off as my original work. (far harsher to AC as well) Here goes...........
So I have both succeeded and failed in this task.....
I created the perfect texture, taste and look of the daytime Air Canada YYZ to LHR economy breakfast. I found a yellow tire, cut a small disc out, smothered it with oil, folded it in half and covered it with some nuked cottage cheese and "ground beef" (aka Basics Value Mince). Placed it into a microwave container, and added cling film and a label of ingredients, calories and "Made in Germany" stamped on it.
Next, I found the most unripe melon in the Greater Toronto Area, cut it up, and put it in the freezer for a couple of hours, just until parts were frozen and crystals forming. Add a cheap yogurt from a low cost supermarket (with a short shelf life), a roll I left out for two days, then wrapped it, and then put it in the fridge just to make sure - with a rock hard solid portion of butter and plastic cutlery.
As it was a daytime flight to London (senior route), I asked my aunty over to serve the meal to me with a caesar to accompany it. (the best bit of the meal). When I tried re-create the meal a second time to make sure I had it just right, my Uncle told me they had no more omelette and offered me the pancakes and apple compote. So close but no cigar!!
I would have taken a picture, but after I had inadvertently overdone the omelette by leaving it in the oven for MORE than two hours, the Fire Marshall wouldn't let me back into the house to take a picture. As for the coffee, i missed my chance coz I looked out of the window just as my aunty brushed passed and served the folk in the next row.
Happy memories........

Here's an idea for BA
Ural Airlines will deliver you an inflight-style meal:
The Guardian reports:
"Ural Airlines has begun delivering in-flight meals to travel-deprived Russians who miss the thrill of a catering cart rolling down the aisle because of coronavirus lockdown.
The airline, which is delivering its in-flight meals to customers in Moscow, St Petersburg and Yekaterinburg, said the initiative was meant to provide people with “the taste of travel without leaving your home”.
“Everything is just like on the airplane except for the view,” it
.
...
Ural Airlines’ service offers the staples of airline meals - chicken, meat and fish - as well as orange, apple and tomato juice. The meal is served on a traditional airline tray."

Air Asia have been doing something similar for a bit over a year. They've opened a restaurant selling their in-flight meals and you can buy some of these as ready meals as well. To be honest, the restaurant food looks quite a bit better than the in-flight option.

Going slightly off piste here, but still BA in-flight catering related and hopefully Vinotraveller will forgive the tangent. When pondering what to drink, I thought I’d try and replicate a BA in-flight wine list from what I have at home. My personal rules for this were to try and stay as close as possible to the wine region/style (eg white Burgundy, NZ Sauvignon Blanc etc) and roughly match the approximate retail price of bottles offered on the lists of my recent BA flights, and in lockdown spirit, I had to have an unopened bottle in the house. So, an attempt below at an F and CW-style selection. I’m out of dessert wine and I don’t really drink port, so those are missing below.
First:
Sparkling - Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 2007, Nyetimber NV (not pictured).
White - Saint-Aubin 1er Cru 2016, Tekau Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2018, Schlumberger Pinot Gris Grand Cru Spiegel 2017.
Red - Chateau Batailley Pauillac Grand Cru 2011, Mt Difficulty Roaring Meg Pinot Noir 2018, Clos de los Siete 2015
Club World:
Sparkling - Champagne Drappier Premier Cru.
White - Saint Clair Pioneer Block Twin Hills NZ Chardonnay 2018, Zyme From Black to White Il Bianco 2017.
Red - Valdubon Crianza Ribera del Duero 2017, Atalaya Laya Almansa 2019
Of the 12 wines pictured, I’ve actually been served only one of these (exactly the same wine and producer) on a BA flight in the last year, if anyone wants to guess. It should be pretty easy to eliminate 2 of the bottles for anyone with the slightest familiarity (in person or via FT) with BA’s wine offering...

And the first entrant gets it right. Naturally it couldn't have been the Champagne, at least not on BA. It was indeed the Pauillac, though I don't remember seeing that one in the CCR. I had it onboard on one flight. Given BA's massive tendency towards Saint-Emilion as Claret of choice in F over the last couple of years (at least IME), anything else strikes a chord.

Not quite up to the other entries, I dug out the Concorde crockery, and some original Landor branded memorabilia from one of my trips.
In celebration I opened up the caviar, knowing this is all a big dream.

Ok... these aren’t the world’s greatest scones by any stretch, but I recalled the other day that the Club Europe scones pre-Do&Co had orange zest in them. So I decided to experiment by including the same in my Delia Smith recipe scones. Oh my goodness what a taste sensation. Mrs BAECAddict thought they were the best scones ever! Who’d have thought BA would have set the standard for pimping scones!

The photos are a few months old now, but my own truffle mac & cheese. Dare I say a little better than some of the versions served in the lounges?
