Can I help you Mar 18, 2020 4:42 am

Wouldn’t be surprised if LHR is its final destination.

I suppose it could be a positioning flight but why not use BA9252 or similar?

southlondonphil Mar 18, 2020 4:49 am

Maybe a medical diversion, or someone slipped through the US banned list, although such an individual could have been offloaded at SNN easily enough.

Plan to go LHR-JFK direct using longer runway at LHR?

KARFA Mar 18, 2020 5:10 am

If it’s not running I assume it would have to be stored somewhere other than LCY. I seem to remember it’s been at LHR before too.

BA flight status is showing BA1 as diverted to LHR and the SNN-JFK leg as cancelled

The BA 2 tonight has already been cancelled.

Not showing ancelled etc for tomorror (yet)

Could be for any number of reasons.

UKtravelbear Mar 18, 2020 5:22 am

Just thought that if any of the pilots in SNN due to fly the leg to SNN has fallen ill it makes sense to divert to LHR to get a crew that can fly the entire TATL leg. The crew that is flying the LCY to SNN leg today would be out of hours for flying to JFK.

Apologies but what happened to the US ban on UK & Ireland traffic?

UKtravelbear Mar 18, 2020 5:45 am

The ban is on certain types of passengers not flights.

According to the BA App, BA1 is cancelled from today (18-March) onwards.

Thankfully despite the Express’ best attempts to scare us with their headline on Monday; there is no ban on U.K. & Eire flights.

There are however bans on people; essentially only US citizens can fly back home (and those on certain visa’s).

I suppose BA made use of what would have just been a positioning flight.

Eh? I'm pretty sure there weren't any passengers on board. :)
