There may be the ability to just keep a couple of runways nationwide open for emergency/diversion purposes for overflights. If not then a NOTAM is published advising the closure of an airfield.

LHR is used by freighters, I'm sure they will still be flying in, whatever happens.

I have created a Wiki outlining which frames have been put into storage. I thought it may be interesting and easy to monitor that way.

If BA get most of T4 and T5 then surely they won’t need to send many frames elsewhere.

No, provided any airport closure is sufficiently promulgated in good time to those conducting any flight planning tasks, then it’s fine. Heathrow is no different.

Again, I wouldn’t use the words ‘I’m sure’ about anything here. Nothing should be ruled out.

Not sure sure how many times I can keep saying it.

LHR has, what, a maximum of three pure-freight flights a day? Not many in the grand scheme of the LHR schedule.

Thanks. I've added G-EUXM to the list for Glasgow.

I could be wrong but I am not convinced that IDT, IVZ and MMI are being stored. They have gone with E at the end of the flight number, as is always the case with engineering flights. The A321s headed for storage have used a positioning flight number (P). As such I think they are just headed for routine mx.

G-MIDT was parked outside the hanger when it arrived at GLA today. The A321's were parked nose out at stand 7 to allow the crew to get off, before being towed to taxiway Y for storage.

In addition to early retirements BA may see this as an opportunity to get some maintenance out of the way.
Don't think so, there are plenty of airports around for emergencies if required. STN is well geared up for emergencies and had done so many times in the past.

I suspect you're probably right - that there's some planned maintenance inputs there.

IIM is due off it's recent maintenance input any time now, IVW has just come off maintenance (with YGD going in), and IVT is also due off maintenance around now too.

MMI is down to be the first "MM" 777 with Club Suite, I believe, so that would make sense it being an "E" flight.

Comet House and You… A Winning Partnership! (my dad was IM RTZ in Comet before moving to Bldg 442 and now WTS)

I too remember seeing the aircraft cleverly wedged in around the Technical Blocks, in my case it was December '99 just before the Millennium.
