70 planes going to Madrid, Teruel and Palma to March 2021. Hearing more and more about 20 or so A319s or 320s going for the scrapper.

Oh damn.

I guess BA realises that they won’t need a big SH fleet this winter, but may need these frames again come S21 (if the vaccine goes ahead).

Do you have any idea what A319/A320s are being scrapped? And when?

No clue. Eventually those short haulers, much like the 747s, were going to go between 2022 and 2024, to be replaced by neos and other longhaulers. It's just that there's no need for them between now and then. It really seems that it's going to be a long slog uphill.

I understand the A319 retirements being sped up, but for the A320s, they weren’t due out till 22/23 onwards. So they won’t want to get rid of too many of them.

I think we can assume the A320ceos with sharklets will stay (10) plus all the NEOs (22). So that’s 32 current aircraft staying, plus the new deliveries.

My worry is that this shortfall will lead to a rise in prices. If demand does recover quicker than expected (which I feel will be the case for beach holidays in S21), then BA will be short of seats - leading to higher prices for the ones that are left. Plus people have transferred holidays to 2021, so there are probably more seats taken than usual for this time of year.

For anyone familiar with Glasgow, there are currently 16 BA Airbuses parked between stands 34 and 37, in addition to long term resident A321 G-MEDJ on stand 38.

Additional Airbuses are parked in area Q next to the tower and at various other stands at the terminal. One A320 is parked next to the emergency RVP near to the Gama hangar.

A321 G-EUXG has just left GLA for Madrid this morning.

Phone pic of some of the parked BA Airbuses between stands 34 and 37 at GLA.

It's a shame, I can't see any of them while driving on Southern Perimeter Road.

If you look on Google Maps, the 380 remote parking bays are the ones marked in red in the photo below (based on my memory), plus there's the odd chance of finding a 380 'dumped' in front of TBA hangars, although it's never for long. Both red boxes are not spotter-friendly from the road, unfortunately.

Is that for maintenance or getting ready to ship the LGW frames off?

Went for a look yesterday afternoon

2x a380s near the northern red box
XLEA (lights on inside the cabin), and XLEJ (no lights)

1x a380 south west of them - couldn't see registration

I also took a look along Eastchurch Road - previously packed with shorthaul aircraft - now eerily quiet with just a few B787s (and some engineers bashing away at their engines)

The empty apron space along Envoy Avenue was even more weird:
