I have to thank the BA call centre guys and gals. I called yesterday and today for cancelling two Avios flights, modifying one trip to India and then modifying it again because I can't seemingly read a calendar. I got through to the operators fairly quickly (using non-UK numbers must've helped) and the operators were great, polite, chirpy and all in all they treated me very well. Their management mightn't value them, I certainly do. Thanks a lot all of you in Manchester, Newcastle, Bremen, India and elsewhere.

GUFs, or Amex 2-4-1 vouchers, or both?

RTW cancellations

I’m booked MAN DOH GYD DOH FCO etc as part of a LONE3 starting in June. Why Baku & Rome? It’s because I have tickets for Wales at EURO 2020.
Uefa meets next week and will probably postpone till summer 2021. Flights are booked with BA but these legs on QR.
Anybody care to speculate if I’ll get a voucher to cover the 10% I will lose? Will be happy to try again next year...
Presumably my insurance won’t pay up...

That’s what happens when you support Wales...

Seriously, a lot depends on your insurance policy. As these flights were - presumably - booked well in advance of this current crisis, your insurance company may we’ll be sympathetic. Doubtful if a UEFA decision would sway the insurers to your cause, but FCO advice would. Perhaps hang-on for a while before taking any action.

A bit like the premier league taking things into their own hands is it tome for BA to pro actively pull flights

We need to lock down like the rest of the world is finally realising

Day be day countries are banning foreign nationals

Inter European travel should be a priority to stop

Apologies if this has been asked but I have a query specific for a 2-4-1 Avios booking - I have scanned back through the pages but am still concerned. EDIT - I posted this in the wrong thread and it has kindly been reposted here, I can see my question on the extension of the voucher has been answered, slightly - is the 6 month from expiry or from current booking?

We had a 2-4-1 voucher expiring in August 2020 so we used it for two weeks in Antigua in May this year. The hotel is a few £K (booked direct) and we have another 2 weeks before we need to pay the balance - only paid £300 so far. I know I can change the 2-4-1 but am reluctant to as it will likely expire before availability returns. Has anyone reported being in a similar situation and have found a way to extend the life of the voucher in this climate? Should I just hang on - closer to the final payment date and then make a decision? What would you do? :-)

Well, it's happened - Jamaica have banned travellers from the UK who are not citizens... So I wonder what happens next.

Looks like air travel could well be over for now

First time I have seen this, albeit only really affecting those off on their holidays right now, but should the situation spread to other ATC units then we really are up the creek without a paddle.

GCXO (Tenerife North), GCLP (Gran Canaria), GCTS (Tenerife South)
High delays for arrival traffic due to COVID-19 reduced staffing throughout the day.
NM are advised any capacity increase is not possible due to the current situation.

Question Worst year for AMEX Companion voucher

So I've earned a voucher this year. I already made a booking last year using money+Avios for May. I wondered if I can take advantage of BA's new flexible policy, can I cancel and get a voucher and Avios back? Then use them to re-book my flight with the companion voucher?

BA has now implemented a policy allowing cancellations up to 31st May. I am supposed to be travelling before that time to a race that's now likely to be cancelled. Therefore not a huge reason to go.

It's ARN-LHR-(eco)-EWR-(Club), involving an upgrade from WTP. If I was to receive a voucher, would it be for the value of the original booking plus the upgrade? And would I get the Avios back? It's rather complicated, too, as it was made in Krona but I'd rather have value in GBP.

Therefore thinking of just requesting the trip is moved 12 months. Can BA do this - I'm not so sure, given the 355 day fare loading?

Would there be any possibility of shifting the destination within same 'zone' instead, i.e. BOS/PHL rather than EWR?

I can phone, but avoiding doing so right now as it's not urgent. Just wondering if anyone has any similar experience thus far?

that’s for new bookings, not existing bookings.
