BA City Premium Team
Just received an email from the new BA City Premium Team regarding a flight tomorrow from LCY and offering assitance to improve the experience. Given how easy security is at LCY im curious to see what the service offers.
Is this a completely new service or have I just been missing out ? I have had the BA Special Services Jaguar at LHR but dont see them using one on the tarmac at LCY

This is a new service, introduced 3rd March. They will meet selected departing customers at the terminal and ensure they have a smooth check in and departure, and also make sure proactive solutions are offered during disruption. Eventually they will also be able to assist arriving customers,

I gather something similar will happen at LGW too, though they used to have a Special Service team a few years back.

How is the 'City Premium Team' different from the existing 'City Business Team' who have been knocking around for a long time?
I'm on BA 1 in May so will be interested in what they do actually offer.
Will they for example escort me from my flight from DUB and take me straight into Departures avoiding security?

Is the general view that security at LCY is good? I’ve always (admittedly on a fairly limited sample size) found it slow - on one occasion to the extent of it being temporarily closed while they tried to work through a backlog.

Like much about LCY it used to be excellent - friendly and helpful. In recent years it's become a similar experience to Heathrow, slow and surly. They are famous for taking trays off belts and leaving them at the 'reassembly' tables unattended whilst you are coming through the scanner. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.

In my experience it is generally rapid enough (especially when compared with non-fast track elsewhere). Even when the queue is back to the end of the tensa barriers you should be through in less than ten minutes.
A lot depends on the time of day too. I went through late afternoon last week and no queue at all.

Security at LCY is, as noted, above pretty hit and miss but in my (pretty extensive) experience they do generally seem to have their machines turned up to max sensitivity, so there are often a lot of people / hand luggage that get extra attention. That can slow things down considerably and make the place appear rather chaotic on a bad day.

Agree / it can be pretty fast but there are a lot of secondaries and also some fairly attitudinal staff. LGW have much to teach other UK airports about how to deliver security efficiently and politely.

I agree on many secondaries, but not on the attitude. I've not had issues there, except on a second lighter that had slipped my mind and was taken away (and that was my fault). It was done professionally and without any condescending words.
But perhaps I'm biased regarding attitude since my new benchmark is MAN, and they beat most of my TSA encounters...
