According to the BBC the Government is NOT going to appeal.

Boris always said he didn't want it.
But the judges said that in future, a third runway could go ahead, as long as it fits with the UK's climate commitments.

I wonder how much has been spent on LHR R3 planning, appealing, lawyers fees, public inquiries, impact assessments etc in the last 30 years? I've lost count of the number of times it has been given the go-ahead, challenged, appealed, shelved....then repeat those 4 stages over and over again with every election and change of government
Meanwhile many other countries just get on with it, ie France / Spain / Italy / Germany / China for high-speed rail and China for new airports.
Getting anything done in this country seriously beggars belief at times

If this is about the "climate emergency" then we shod be stopping all airport expansions but to single out Heathrow while allowing ithers doesn't make sense when it is the one in most need of extra capacity.

Just to clarify, that information wasn't present in the BBC report at the time Tobias-UK posted it and when Camflyer made their query.
It has been added since as the report was updated (and obviously answers the question).
