BA11/BA12 LHR-SIN Cancellations 24/25 Feb 2020
Does anyone know the reason for the cancellations of BA11/12 to/from SIN that happened yesterday and today?
Scheduled to fly home tomorrow and didn't know if the reason is likely to impact services for the rest of the week. |
DOBA11/24FEB
* OPERATIONAL FLIGHT INFO * BA 11 -1 MO 24FEB20 CITY INFO HOUR (LOCAL) LHR NEXT INFO WILL BE AT 2100 ESTIMATED TIME OF DEPARTURE 1905 FLIGHT CANCELLED 1517 DAMA ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL 1527 SIN Is the info from Expertflyer. So looks like a fairly last min cancellation due to "damage" So in theory shouldn't directly impact Singapore and certainly BA11 on 25th looks pretty busy |

BA12 Cancellation follow on questions
Was just about to post on this topic myself as my daughter was due to fly back on BA12 tonight and I have a few questions I hope someone can help with. Original flight was from Siam Reap to SIN then LHR. She's been re-booked via BKK but this involves an overnight stop in BKK and arriving home 12 hours later than planned. So...
1) Should BA be providing (or at least paying for) overnight accommodation in BKK ? 2) Presumably EC261 compensation will be due ? 3) Presumably no further compensation for the horror of travelling a B777 compared to the A380 she was originally booked on :-) 4) Out of curiosity, since it is too late to fix this now, the QF1 from SIN to LHR leaves about the same time as the BA12. This wasn't offered as an option but would the agent have been able to re-book on this flight. I can see that there are seats available. Thanks |
Yes, BA have a duty of care for accom and food & drinks (not alcohol..) so she should get a reasonably priced hotel (under £200) and reclaim from BA who will pay without question.
Yes, if the SIN aircraft was cancelled due to damage she should be entitled to EUR600. They won't compensate for different aircraft type ! |

See the main EC261 thread in the Dashboard. 3) Nope 4) Which is why it's always good to research before calling, yes that would have been possible but the preference is for BA metal. There is usually good advice to be had in this forum, or use ExpertFlyer or similar tools. |
Thanks for the answers.
Re: the EU 261 I had a similar circumstance where a plane was damaged by a tow tug at Heathrow causing me to miss a connecting flight and be very late. BA coughed up the €600 without question. Is there any way of finding more information on the damage, or just wait for BA's response? An on the re-booking, yes, I would have done that but unfortunately this happened in the middle of the night and I didn't get the message from my daughter until too late. More family flyertalk training needed! |

1) Yes, in fact overall it's best to book the hotel yourself, there isn't much benefit in BA doing so. So just book the Novotel in the airport, or somewhere on the Skytrain. The guideline is £200 per room per night.

Amazed they havn't got a negotiated deal with SQ/QF (especially) - sure can't cost BA more than £300 + tax on a one way Y sector?! And would keep the client happy as they get home earlier / within 90 minutes of original time. OR - am I massively simplifying things here? Or is BA wary of letting it's passengers discover SQ/QF cabins  |

The system is biased to BA metal and there are good reasons for that in terms of end to end processing, customer relations and ticketing. Had the OP made a request for the QR service (a) it would have been agreed and (b) it would not have cost BA any significant sum due to the way that IATA inter-bill each other for irrops. If it was purely money driving then probably QR would have been cheapest overall, but there isn't a micro analysis of this, BA have policies in place which simply provide that BA as far as possible resolves these cases internally to BA.
