Expiry of Amex companion voucher

Expiry of Amex companion voucher
i have an AMEX companion voucher that expires in September 2020.
i am trying to use it for a flight in November 20.
when i try to check availability on BA, i receive an error message saying
"Sorry, outbound travel must take place before your companion voucher expires. Please select another date."
Is this a new thing? i thought i had the only condition was to book before it expires (and not fly before it expires).
Did i miss anything?

Sorry, you have to fly outbound before it expires. I don’t think that’s new.
I’m in the same boat, with one expiring in September. I guess I could use it for something, but that’s just stacking another set of hotel bills on an already full holiday programme. Easy come, easy go ... there will be another one along later!
