BA to start operating the A380 to Las Vegas
 

According to https://simpleflying.com/british-air...380-las-vegas/ BA will start operating the A380 to / from Las Vegas from January 2021:

Per the article: "Las Vegas will soon receive its first Airbus A380 service. British Airways is set to begin operating the giant aircraft to the Nevada city in January 2021"

Looking on ba.com and making a dummy booking it does indeed show the A380 as operating flights in January next year.

That will be a fun trip. :D An A380 full of stag and hen dos! How soon will we get the first "the bar ran dry before we were half way there" and "there was no booze on the return flight" posts? :)

Tobias-UK I'm assuming it's just for CES in that case. I was getting excited but my parade has been well and truly rained on lol. That said, I do actually like the 747 and it will be a shame when it's gone.

I hear you, I was exactly the same when @florens first mentioned it to me - all excited until I saw the ‘frequency’ - at least I’ll get to return to the UK on it after our Christmas in Vegas ^

I've just had to rebook my June flights for January to find my out bound on the 388, which was a surprise. I'd remembered it being discussed previously as a long term thing, not for ever then, but just 8 days! I actually prefer CW on the u/d of the 744 than the 388. I've been through the seating guide and booked 53A and B which I chose last time (only been on the 388 twice, my wife likes to sit next to me which is why A&B and not A&K) and the seats were ok but it was a bit of a dorm still and didn't have the same feel as the 744. What seats do you guys book or do you travel in F?

unless you can get one at the back of a cabin with non restricted egress, once you’re in the seats it makes pretty much zero difference where you are

I find it hard to believe that BA will be flying 380s to Vegas anytime soon though, yet alone in Jan

I usually go for 51ab or51 jk. I found 53 a bit too close to the galley .row 50 is close to the curtain for the toilets and only has 1 window

Whether the a388 actually goes to las in 2021 is another matter entirely. Would not surprise me if there was an aircraft change prior to then

CES 2021 might not happen. Or might be much reduced in size and attendance.
Many companies will reduce their overseas business travel budgets.
So there could be plenty of vacant seats on an A380.

You may be right, good grief the USA may not have reopened for Brits by then!

Vegas is beginning to wake up from its coronavirus-induced sleep, but for now The Strip remains closed. It's virtually impossible to guess when Sin City might open up to foreign visitors.

Of all the places in America that’s likely to open to foreign tourists, Vegas could well be top of the list. It’s very heavily reliant on foreign tourist money and has an over supply of hotel rooms. I’ve seen different plans as to how the hotels plan to operate once they reopen including temperature checks as you enter the hotels / casinos, social distancing at slots & tables, keeping buffets & nightclubs closed, on site doctors, plus of course hand sanitizer stations & increased cleaning throughout. It may well be easier to “manage” Covid19 in Vegas than somewhere like New York

Well yes, but it is not Vegas that will determine when foreigners will be allowed to return - that decision is in the power of the President, and the latest musings from Washington were not that positive:

Time will tell ...

Very difficult to see when BA will offer a meaningful schedule to the US. Rather than when the US allows European visitors, is when US citizens will have carte blanche to Europe.

We need foreign tourists back badly. Actually any tourists from the typical places such as california and canada.

But they should start with phased approach , open only to NV residents firstly. A gradual approach as we are just not ready to go back to how things were.

If Clark county manages this well, then I totally agree , that Vegas may well be placed to get through this less worse than others.

Getting back on topic, i was so looking forward to the ba a380 coming in, but now I fear that won't happen for some time.

I actually cancelled my Jan flight two days ago.

I love the a380 and so gutted I actually cancelled the ba flight this far out.
