No catering on long-haul flights out of T5 today

An acquaintance has told me they've been informed there's no catering on long-haul flights today ó he's been given a voucher to buy something in the terminal.

All flights, all cabins? I’ve read nothing in the DM yet and nothing on the website so it must be wrong!

Dunno, but looking at BA's Twitter feed, they're acknowledging it:

"We're aware of the catering issue and we're trying to get the problem rectified as soon as possible. We're sorry for any disappointment that has been caused"

Could be a run on the food outlets and it’s not like they can bring in extra supplies at short notice.

i see lots of crisp packets removed from the lounge!

is this just a food issue or are drinks carts affected as well?

It’s due to the loss of power and the Gate Gourmet catering unit which they are urgently working on.

Would that affect GG-catered airlines across the entire airport?

Are liquid catering components unaffected?

Not sure how a voucjer would cut it if you have a one of the longer LH flights or what state your sandwich would be in after 9 hours in the air.... Presumably if you buy a pannini or something the crew could still heat it....

Guess there's not much BA can do really, glad I'm not going anywhere today though.

So glad I'm flying AA today and that they're catered by LSG. Westward-bound passengers will flexible tickets would be well advised to to try rebook.
