Boris on BA. How does he stay in touch?
Does anyone know how the PM stays in touch when they are on board a BA aircraft for either business or pleasure?

Is he really that important ? There is a deputy pm and a whole government to sort out issues that may occur within 8-12 hours.
no doubt they could contact the airline on hf if push came to shove.

The previous PM had a habit of going up Welsh mountains with just her husband for a few hours and leaving her phone behind "in case it got wet". Somehow we survived. She once did a walking tour of the Alps and just rung her Principal Private Secretary once a day (but not Sundays). They mostly talked about the weather.
We don't currently have a deputy PM, we do have a First Secretary of State, who isn't shy.

I'm sure the aircraft SATCOM could be pressed into service in case of a dire emergency, or a hand held satphone near the window might work OK (even if it breaches the letter of the rules "no transmitting devices in flight").

I once received a message on board on the way to the USA, and my response was also sent back. I’m sure the PM would be contacted whilst on board if absolutely necessary.

Isn’t it better he doesn’t have any communication? Makes me feel safer.

Just be glad we (Brits) don’t live in America where the president can take a 747 for the short hop down to Florida from Washington DC. At the expense of the taxpayer.

ACARS messages
? That's how the Cathay pilots followed the NBA finals with the Raptors last year. I saw multiple messages flying back and forth in my inbox at work.
