Matt Frei of Channel 4 News in GF with a couple of colleagues.

Matt started his career in the BBC German Language Service and coincidentally, as an ex-BBC staffer, I have been digitising some old tapes including programmes he used to co-present. Small world.

Ian Hislop T5 Fast Track security the morning of the first day after Brexit. It was an unusually slow weekend morning that side of T5.

Yes, forced. I had to be in Doha on a certain date and at the time I needed to confirm plans the BA pilot strikes had not been called off. I did not book any new BA flights after the serious disruption I suffered on the two strike dates. I flew quite a number of different airlines during that period than I otherwise would.

As for Qatar, it still is not an airline I am especially fond of, as I’ve said previously it think it offers a decent product but not the ‘fantastic’ product others on here believe it to be. I did, however, find it better than the EK sectors I’d flown. I might do a trip report, to share my thoughts on the experience.

Sir Jackie Stewart and what looks like family just boarded BA725 GVA-LHR. Was led straight from tarmac to plane ahead of everyone else so must be with special services. Sat in 1A.
